From under the bench to back on the road... I hope!

A terrible year (or two) for car stuff, but finally back on engines again.
This one was stuffed under the bench a few years back and I thought I had prepared it well enough for a long sleep, however.....
crank bearing has a mark but you can't feel it, I was inclined to polish it out?
1 bore has some marks where the piston has sat, you can feel it very slightly with a nail, I have cleaned it and it feels less, was thinking of a light deglaze for this?
conrods are Cosworth, these are old marks and am inclined to leave these?
will do new crank main bearings and check the big ends.what do you think?

The crank - looks like a chemical stain ? Will it polish off easily with wd and fine wet n dry ? If so I would say it's ok

I would try a hone/deglaze on bores and see how easy they clean up

dont worry about the rod, crank looks like it will polish, use some 1200 wet and dry with some light oil, guve teh bores a hine and they will prob live again

Thanks guys, you know what's it's like, you need confidence to do the right thing.
    Thanks.
I found the cause (I think) looks like condensation in the oil ring springs did the bores.

I'll update as I go but it's really a simple rebuild

    Update:
Crank journal polished out with 1200 wet & dry with WD40 it then looked a bit dull so polished with some duraglit and now looks good.
3 out of 4 bores just needed a clean up and a very light hone, No1 bore needed a fair bit more work but now feels quite good.
    Block face cleaned up well.
Will clean up the Pistons and check the rings, I think I have a spare set somewhere if they don't look or feel so good.
Will also check bearings and decide what to replace.

Sump had a bit of muck in the bottom probably from the last time I stripped it but more worrying was blue hylomar bits on the pickup mesh so I will probably use Black RTV and be a little less generous next time

coincidentally i opened up the big ends today on a 84 pinto i acquired some months back - like a new engine i dont think i have seen better in fact on a used motor, it must have been very low mileage.

wasnt a 1.6 e max was it? they are usually in mint condition. if the internals are that good make sure you keep the oil pump, unworn origional ford oil pumps are better than just about anything on the market these days
