Rear Gearbox seal !!

Hi people, can anyone help ? I have a 1600,4 speed gearbox on my x-flow lump, I have quite a bad oil leak and it smells like gear oil,it seems to be coming from around the back of the box where the prop enters !! Would it be the real seal at the back of the box ? If so what sort of a job is this ? could I get away with doing it on the car ?

its an easy job, remove the prop, prise old seal out and gently tap new on in place, refit prop and top up the gearbox oil

As thought but its always good to have a second opinion,top man !!!! Many thanks, is this a common fault do you know ? do you know of any other possibilities ? with this oil leak,place etc !!
