Fellow petrol head , just joined the forum and saying Hi !

    Hello peeps

I've been browsing the forum for a while , and I'm impressed by how friendly it appears and how much knowledge is in here - so I've joined up and thought I'd better introduce myself !

I've been a regular on several motorbike related forums , and my passion / hobby for the past few years has been building , riding and (occasionally) racing - high performance bikes.
I was very much into the 'Streetfighter' style of custom built bikes and dabbled in a bit of drag racing too . I've built a fair few of them - some of them even making it into magazines and stuff .Here's a couple of pics of last project bike . It's based on an old 1990 GSXR1100 , but I built it from a bare frame and I modified / re-engineered virtually every component.

I'm not just into bikes though - I'm a chassis engineer at a well known 4x4 manufacturer in the midlands. I've always been a petrol-head, and I've always had a healthy interest in cars too. For the last couple of years I've been helping a good friend on the build of his C20XE powered Mk2 Escort . This has reignited my love of old skool fords from when i was a yoof, and after what seems like ages for a likely candidate to come along I have just bought myself my very own Mk1 2 Door which is going to need a full restoration , before i start upgrading it for the 21st century

I've already spent a lot of time reading through the posts and this place seems to be a wealth of information . I'm really looking forward to becoming an active member. The Escort's going to need a lot of love , whilst i'm quite handy with the spanners - it's been an awfully long time since i've owned and modified my own Ford Escort (Like 25 years ago !)

I'll be picking your brains for sure !

    Thanks

Thanks , Yes , the car was originally from Portugal , built in the Lisbon plant . I think it's been in the UK for the last 3-4 years , but the chap i got it from had never done anything with it.
