    Engine that can't.

Just using what I have at the moment..but have two options.
Because of class rules, I can use programmable ecu but must retain stock intake and throttle body. Or I can use side draft webers and any ignition system.

Can decide which would be better.

    Suggestions??
    Thanks.

if your looking for maximum power then surely sidedrafts and a mapped ignition system is the way to go

Agreed - stock intake will have no performance enhancements so a aftermarket ECU, no matter how clever, will be wasted.
Carbs and mappable ignition may take more time setting up but will be streets ahead in power department!

If you are stuck with stock cams (does anyone make fast road / rally cams for this engine?) then even with twin sidedrafts and mappable ignition bhp will not be high.

cam lobes in these engines are massive so plenty of meat to reprofile if required, im assuming its the 8v version, 16v cams are avaiable for sure

i do recall for a short while these were used in a single seater, i think it was meant to be an updated FF2000, i think it died a death but i do recall reading about the cams having such big lobes that they could regrind them and get a lot more duration at the expense of only loosing a small amount of valve lift

Doesnt look like an awful lot of room there for sidedraughts ? They'd be slammed right against that inner guard ?

Used to have webers and cvh distributor then move to 1.8cvh ignition.

That's where I'm at now, the stock engine setup worked surprisingly well last meeting. Now I'm looking at regrinding some cams..any info or opinions on cam grinds??

Looking at the inlet port here, should i 'straighten' the port or just work the guide boss and keep the cross section to minimum???
Below is an inlet i did on a head many years ago just exploring boundaries of the was but i never used it.

    Opinions....thanks.

straightening the inlet should be good, ive never done any performance work on one of these, let alone stick one on a flowbench, but it looks to me like your eairler but un tried attempt should work
