Advice needed on Cosworth N/A exhaust manifold.

    So,
The N/A build is going to plan. Not a big power unit just want a nice drivable car.

Head is being ported at the moment, cams will be very mild. 45's etc.etc.

But how about exhaust manifold? would really like to keep the servo tower on the Mk2 RS2000.

    Is it possible?
does a manifold exist that misses the servo etc.

    Options?

    Have one fabricated..if so where?
    Adapt a cast turbo manifold?

All ideas and suggestions most welcome.

Can't speak for the other options, but I doubt you want a turbo manifold.

This is what the 4x4 one looks like (this is what I'm using):

... and this is what the 2wd version looks like:

Just to confirm, on both designs the turbo sits on top, so as they stand, you'd have to cut and flip them 180 degrees.

I think by the time you chopped either one into a state where you could get a decent downpipe angled down and out you'd be better off making something from scratch. Neither of them are probably going to be great in a normally aspirated application unfortunately.

The Ashley manifold does not clear the servo but this just might ->

Re: Advice needed on Cosworth N/A exhaust manifold.

saw an engine for sale on ebay that had a cast cosworth exhaust manifold with sort of 180 degree u bend affair type pipe made to convert it into a down pipe. To be truthful i did think it looked a bit of rig up. But it shows it can be done. not sure it will do much for performance tho. £300 quid will get you an ashley manifold not sure if it fits with a servo though.

Re: Advice needed on Cosworth N/A exhaust manifold.

If you are building a N/A engine for performance the last thing you want is a cast Turbo manifold that will give you restrictions.

The cheapest way out is to obtain a small bore Pinto four branch manifold that's designed to fit with the std servo, cut off the flanges where it bolts to the head and weld four flanges on that'll mount onto the Cosworth head. A tricky job as the ports come out of the 16v head at an angle and not straight as the Pinto one. Failing that you'll have to have one hand made by someone like JP Exhausts in Macclesfield.

    Hi ya Loudboy.
So have you kept the standard servo tower.

How much fabrication/mods did you have to do?
