    The Ultimate Mk1 Fiesta?? ;-)

I thought it was time to let you know what has been stopping me getting on with my own projects!!

Doing this one with a good mate. He had the initial idea and was going to do it with a Mk3 Escort. After chatting for quite a while I thought it sounded good and ended up offering him this to use and we'd do it together

One pretty mint Mk1 Fiesta 1.3 Ghia

I had aquired it from someone and wasn't too sure what to do with it

So, we stripped it out and over the last 2 years it now stands like this

A Mk1 Fiesta with full subaru running gear and engine
    4wd and adjustable suspension/coilovers

    Cheers

Steve, why do I get the impression you pretty much bum banded steels?

He has a point though, would be fantastic to make this look as standard as possible, then all over Porsche Turbo's and the M3 brigade

That's a newly re-built engine done by a Subaru specialist Blueprinted and balanced, all new gaskets, rings and stuff (not too sure exactly what was done to it but know it wasn't cheap )
Should be good for a reliable 300bhp though this will depend on our turbo choice

Can recommend Bob Rawle for the mapping if you're staying with the standard ECU - he did a lovely job on mine

My current car was mapped by Bob, using an aftermarket LINK ecu though, running a conservative 297 BHP

    Your wish is my command

Well, it took me ages tonight to sort out all of our piccies into some sort of resemblance of order!!
4 different large files from all different camera's/phones etc!
Finally got there though and have just started to up load them to imageshack!

I'm going to start from the beginning on this as I intend to have it on 2 sites

Because we wasn't sure which path we was going to take (in honesty, at this point in time we had know idea how we were going to do it!!) we ended up doing some very neat repairs on the floor on the only rot we could find!!

Because the damage was around the chassis number, we took care to make sure that wasn't disturbed. We also knew at this time that it would be an open floor with no carpet so it had to look good inside!! :norty:

During this time we were on the look out for a donner Imprezza

Good old E-bay came to the rescue! It was on as an auction but no-one bid on it. It had a front end smack that had been repaired but no one seemed interested. So, we made them an offer and they took it. Trouble was, it was all the way up in Scotland and that made for a long journey for collection!!!

    Cheers

We got it up on the ramps to give it a good looking over, only to get some nice surprises..

...Fully adjustable suspension all round and some nice braces for the suspension

So, being well happy with our purchase, we devised a plan! With some measurements taken, we worked out that we could transfer the Imprezza engine bay into the Fiesta!! So, we started to take more measurements and marking things out!

As we knew we would be cutting the engine bay out, we didn't want the strut towers to flex out of position, so we made up a bit of a strut brace

Right, Saturday morning, so time to continue!

So, it was time to put it up on the ramps to start dismantling it! Rear suspension/drive train removed first.

Then the Engine/gear box and front suspension out!!

    By dazzles9r at 2010-10-08

Quick check we've got it all

    By dazzles9r at 2010-10-08

Then time to start looking at where we're going to cut??!!

So, we now had an idea how we were going to do it and this meant it was time to start buying things! We wanted a roll cage for it for 2 reasons. First, we knew we was going to use the car on the track so you can't be too careful! Secondly, we knew we was going to be ctting the Fiesta shell up quite a lot so we wanted to make sure it kept it's shape!!

We decided on a Roll centre cage that required a lot of cutting, moving, welding and hitting with big hammers!! I have to admit, I wasn't present for this exercise but Scooby says he wont be rushing to fit another one!!

    Cheers
