MK2 Escort Heater Motor, Not working

I have just completed the full restoration of my mk2 Escort RS2000 and the only thing which is now not working is the Heater, I have done a full diagnosis on the Electrics and believe that its the Motor itself.

There s a good 12v Feed to the Motor and the switch has a reliable Earth connection, I have run though all the resistances along the circuit but am unsure what figures look dubious. The one which stands out is the 4.3 ohms across the motor does this look to be in the right region?

I'm trying to get a goo idea f the culprit before removing the unit from the car as it could be a tricky job with all the wiring in front of it on the rally consul.

Any help would be much appreciated

    cheers

Just connect the earth side of the motor to ground ie touch it with power on ..... if motor runs, its either the switch or the resistor (for half speed) that's likely faulty - saves taking whole dash apart initially!

When I connected the motor earth side to ground it just blew the fuse, it was a 16 amp fuse which I thought was a bit low but still would have expected it to leap into life??

My only worry was that the motor had some corrosion on it and if I were able to give it a tap start it might spring into life, it probably hasn't been run for a number of years now (before I purchased the project)

That's what I thought, the cars currently away having the CWP ratio changed when I get it back next week I'm going to drop out the heater unit and check it out.

In the mean time if bought a spare motor so I've got all the base's covered, as I don't have long before the first rally on the 7th of October

Hi, you can find new fan motor in UK at Tickover.
I did replaced mine, tricky job to open the heater, and re-assemble the unit.
