Has anyone used one of these cams?

can you use standard valve valve springs with them?
Will I need to take head off?

Clint will probably around any time soon but this one looks very similar to a Kent FR30 cam.
Wouldn't use the standard valve springs you nee uprated springs.
Yes you need to take the head off.
By the way, I think it is a FR30. I have not used it. On paper, it kind of looks OK but I guess FR32 might be a better cam all in all. Both FR30 and FR32 needs uprated single valve springs according to the Kent catalog.
What I find it rather odd is, FR30 advertised as a towing and automatic cam with the least duration in the catalog. However, the TDC timing of 2.95 mm for such a cam seems rather too high for a towing and automatic cam, is not it ?
OK, we have always been discussing the unreliable information and data from the cam catalogs anyway.
yes, interestingly the same cam (134) from piper has next to no lift at tdc. i did wonder if kents tdc lift figure was incorrect, but having recently seen a cam installed, the lift did look to be about 3mmWhat I find it rather odd is, FR30 advertised as a towing and automatic cam with the least duration in the catalog. If the lift did look to be about 3mm than probably the catalog figure is also correct which I found it rather odd for an automatic cam. I don’t have enough knowledge but something seems strange with that much TDC lift. It must be an interesting profile for the purpose. I wish someone comment with their real life experience.
Always interesting to hear about various profiles from various manufacturers although most profiles are there for purely marketing ( in my opinion).

I used the Kent version of this cam some time back.
Had the spring seats pocketed and stronger springs.
Couldnt get it to run properly and had a show two days later so gave-up on it. Still have it and may have another go at some point. Maybe with 45's next time.
I think the general consencus on here was that it didnt like my standard Twin choke weber.
