This one is for the electrical boffins out there,
I have a mk6 fiesta that I'm converting to RWD , as an added security measure I want to fit a removable steering wheel, how would I get around the airbag warning light.
I,'ve heard about the alternator fix, but was wondering if there,s an easier fix, cheers

whats the alternator fix ?
as a guess i would say measure resistance of an airbag and replace with similar resistance in the wheel circuit after wheel removed.

Alt fix. Is take a feed of ign side so when u turn on ignition airbag lights up as suposse to. Then when started goes out. MOT guy then thinks everything is ok. 😆

Ahh I see , I thought you were trying to fool ecu.
I think alt method is easiest there is for modded car especially as you may delete airbags ? You can just link bulbs on clocks I guess even oil light should do.

linking the airbag light to the alternator or oil switch will NOT produce the correct sequence of light operation, so it should still fail an mot.
2 ohm resister across the air bag plug, will put the light out, its one method we use for fault checking, incidentally if the airbag light doesnt come on at all its not a fail!!!
as for the mot man, well that depends on who is testing, an air bag missing from a vehicle where it it was fitted as standard equipment is an mot failure whether the light is on or not, i cant think of one car which doesnt have a steering wheel airbag, so without doubt it would NOT pass an mot at my place.

thats fair enough, although i think i would prefer a working airbag just in case, and you most defiantly will need to declare it to your insurance company, all i was trying to do is point out you will need to get a bent mot next time!
