    Help!! 1300gt Xflow Running Problems!

Hi guys right where do i start . . well i recently bought a Vauxhall viva hb with a 1300 gt xflow from a mk2 escort fitted. Now the engine wont rev over 1.5k and seems to diewhen the throttle is pressed. We have changed -

    carburettor
    points
    condensor
    dizzy
    coil
    plugs
    leads
    dizzy cap

there is fuel getting through so we know its not a fuel problem, my gaffer at work (looneytune on here pinto turbo specialist lol) has even run a direct live from the battery to out rule the dizzy and the spark still dies on us? can anyone shed any light on this?? its having a pinto soon but i dont want to put that in and experince the same sort of problems? is it a wiring fault?? any help appreciated as ebays looms otherwise cheers Nobby

Have you checked the vacuum pipes from the inlet manifold to the servo and the PCV valve/box on the side of the block?

Also the vacuum line from the dizzy to the inlet manifold.

Problems here can cause air leaks on the inlet side that don't become apparent until you use some throttle.

true, but that wont cause it to lose the spark. if you pull a plug lead off and stick a spark plug on it and fix it to the engine, start it up, apply some revs you can see the spark disapearing in time to the misfire. we have wired up the ignition system independently to the car to no avail. the symptons are that of a duff condesor but this has been changed 3 times now, 2 coils and 2 sets of points. its a definate head scratcher. as nobby says, its had a different dizzy, cap, leads, plugs, engine earths and carb, fuel pump and fuel pipes. can see why previous owner wanted to sell it

I think you have got the alternator on the wrong way round, so when you rev the car it sucks the electric out.

thought of that one . actualy we did disconnect the alternator in case it was over charging. anyway, it's all sorted, i hope, fitted another new condensor from a different supplier and she runs perfect. shame its being removed shortly for a pinto.
