    Hi Folks

Finally took the plunge and have sent the car off to have the wiring done, and hopefully get it running. Watch this space!

Get it back on Friday i think, everything is wired in and the engine is running sweet. The only thing that was faulty is the rev counter so i need a new one.

    Super happy its running though!

2005 was the last time I had mine was on the road! Been working on it since 2009. Life is completely different compared to when I started....

Im the same, I've changed my career, went back to Uni, got a job, got married, bought a house and had 2 kids. To say its been an eventful 8 years would be an understatement!

    Hows your project coming along?

    Getting fairly close now! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthre...647171&page=10

Hopefully get the centre console and heater in this weekend, then it will be mirrors, door cards, a couple of breather hoses from the block to catch tank, then it's just about ready to fire up!

Glad you kept the car - too many times over the last 10 years people have told me to sell the car. I'm really pleased I ignored them all!

I know what you mean, I'm not quite sure how I managed to keep hold of it but if I sold it I'd be gutted!

    It certainly is mate
Managed to take it round the block on Saturday, couldn't do much more as its not road legal yet. Super happy with it! Needs a bit of balancing on the carbs but everything works. Ive got quite a lot of wee jobs to do on it over the winter but it will definitely be on the road at spring time!
Need to repaint inside the boot as i had a pretty bad fuel leak and its stripped all the paint Ill get the front grill painted and fitted this week. Need to tidy up and finish the interior.
Also need to try figure out why theres no reverse light. Ive heard theres a plug on the gearbox so ill need to look into that.
Grinning from ear to ear this weekend though. I can't believe its been 8 years. Its been a lot of blood sweat and beers

It pulls well when you plant the foot, just need to get it running a little smoother.

Re: Mk2 project...Here we go again on my own( na na na na)

    Hi Folks

Had a little bit of bother with the front wheels rubbing on full lock but i think (fingers crossed) that problem is solved now!
I took the car out for a little spin on Saturday to make sure all was good, i.e. starts, stops and turns without rubbing and all is good, apart from i think i need a new battery.

So i think its all ready for it MOT now, i just need to get it booked in. The car ran really well, sounded good and more importantly, pulled well! We were worried about the fact it was popping and banging quite a lot but we noticed one of the spark plugs just needed opened up so its running a lot better.

Dusted off the Go Pro but went and put the waterproof cover on it so the sound isn't very good on the video, ill make sure i put the right one on next time i take it out as it really sounded nice! Braaaaaaaap!!

Feel free to subscribe to my You Tube channel as I plan on putting lots more videos up once its MOT'd and on the road

    Cheers

Great to see the finished product, credit to you. I may have missed it but I couldn't find the pics you mentioned of the rear inner quarter panels you made? Keen to do something like this myself.

Nice work, bet it feels great to finally have it on the road. I'm eagerly anticipating the same for myself!

Do you have a particularly 'out of the way' MOT station to go to?

Love it, nothing quite gives you the grin factor when you put your car back on the road

When you find out what the buzzing noise from the GoPro is can you let me know as mine does exactly the same when bolted to the rollcage!

Was grinning from ear to ear! the noise from the GoPro is really annoying, I'm gonna try wrapping a little strip of rubber round the cage before i put the mount on. Oh and also put the right case on the GoPro so i can actually hear the car!

Its officially booked in for the 6th May

Its not really that close to us either so ill need to take the car on the main road to get to it but as long as the cars booked in its legal apparently.

Im not sure how it will go to be honest but i want to tax the car for a year on the 1st of June so hopefully after that it will be exempt, next year it will be 41 years old so this will be the only time i have to tax it!

Surely yours isn't far away mate?

I had the same problem way back in the mists of time when I had a mini-dv camera fastened up in an MR2 - I think you need some damping to stop the actual camera case resonating; that's what the microphone picks up I believe.

Nope, hopefully not far away! This weekend we're aiming to go over all the fluids and wiring again with a view to getting it running on Saturday. Hopefully that will mean it should soon be moving under its own power again for the first time in 10 years or so.

The rear inner quarters were made out of something called foamex (5mm), you can buy it quite cheap and its super light. Foam in the middle with PVC on the outside. Then it was just wrapped in a carbon fibre effect vinyl.

Well it passed with flying colours

When the garage phoned i asked the guy how it got on and he said "the car is pristine, can't find a single fault with it, immaculate underneath!"

Over the moon with it! unfortunately i just need to play the waiting game now as I'm going to Tax it on the 1st of June, which means when tax comes around next year it will be exempt!

Almost completely legal and ready for summer

I think its officially 40 years and 3 months which would make it exempt in August and I've just paid for the year
Although when its time to get the tax again next year i can apply for exemption and get a refund as well
