Thats it mate, i cant think off hand of any cars that have pics of the tubs being done properly. Anything gary does usually gets his monster tubs, the same for gartrac shells too. Maybe one of the cars 2quick4u did when he was still in the uk, but that was in the days when we didnt really get too many pictures or do the progress reports as we seem to do now
The car is looking well mate, its a far cry from when it left Nick's garage the other month!!!! Good look with it, should be a fine motor when you're done.
Cossie's, don't you just love em!!!!
Regarding the arches, this is a diagram Gary produced earlier that might help

And other junk I don't like to talk about!
He's got a mk2 capri GL Was round Nick's today, he's busy doing bits and pieces but it doesn't need much until the MOT is due next year when the welder will have to come out!!!Front panel is a little chewy and there's a few other little bits but nothing major thankfully
Cossie's, don't you just love em!!!!
Managed to get the rear drivers side arch chopped off and hopefully tomorrow got the outer tub in place! Actualy wasnt as big of a pain in the arse as i thought it would be!
Although work was caught a little short today when i had a little accident with the grinder! Managed to take a nice chunk out my hand requiring stitches! Well thatl be the first of many injuries no doubt as i managed to burn the shit out of my face last week when i was welding with welding goggles not a full facer! Lesson learnt tho! Wont be doing that again!
Anyway il try get some pics up in the next couple of days
Finally managed to get back onto it today! College and work are a bummer!
Well today i managed to get the o/s outer tub held in place with some self tappers just to hold it then i welded it into place!
Starting to get a little more comfortable with the welder but im a long way away from laying down any neat welds! Although everything so far seems to be holdin in place so the welds seem to be strong enough! Most important i think!!
Unfortunately tho the welder ran out of wire so that stoped me from finishing off the outer tub although its a bollock hair away from being finished! Then its on to the other side!!
Also managed to get the arches sittin pretty nice on the quarters before i cut the arches so thats one load of my mind!
Anyway heres my progress so far!
Doing a great job
Do you leave the excess on till after youve welded the outer side of the tub then trim it down?
Screaming 1300 mexico rep
Hey folks. Not updated this in a wee while! Still been workin away on it but just not had my camera handy for some pictures yet!
Been workin away on the other side puttin the tub in and for some reason this side had been a total mare!! Cut away the outer tub only to find there been some really dodgy repairs on the inner tub! Basically where there should be metal some bright spark decided it would be a good idea to fill it with body filler! so i ran into a few surprises there!
Its all good now tho! A few plates welded in and the outer tub is now sittin in place! Just need to run a few seams round it and trim off the excess metal! and that will be the welding complete on the back end!
Going to put a skim of body filler over the quarters and get the arches on! Basically just so there out the way and get the car turned round and start on the front! Which after having my mates round and getting their opinion on doesnt seem like a big job atall! To be honest i think ive done the hardest part first! But im sure il come across some more surprises on the front!
Il try get some pictures up this week and let you all see the progress!
Was round workin on the old ecky today and got a fair bit done!
Managed to get the outer tub on the o/s finished off so thats all the welding finished on the back end!
Got the trusty old strip and clean discs out and managed to strip both entire quarter panels and the rear panel down to bare metal using only one and a half discs! There pretty expensive but they do the job better than anything ive ever used for paint stripping before!!
Started filling in some of the repairs and put a skim on the n/s quarter! Should get away with one light skim on both quarters cause there not actually that bad! Il seal the back end all up and thatl be that part of the car all done! Once the doors and wings are on properly il be able to get the side properly filled in and level! Just putting a light one on just now so i dont have a big build up of filler where the flange of the arches sit cause i want that to stay visible!
Im gettin there..........slowly!!
hi doing a great job
Cheers buddy! Actually really enjoyin workin on it! Not had any major issues with it yet but fingers crossed i wont come across any major head aches!
Managed to get a little bit done yesterday on it but now im finished with college for the holidays my work is rammin me with crazy hours at work so really not had alot of time on it!
Just been on the back end skimmin Filler on the quarters!Luckily before i left Mercedes i invested on a set of long blocks and a shit load of sandin strips so i think iv got every kind of shape and size of rubbin block you could imagine! Makes life so much esaier and repairs much more level! Mind you they did cost a small fortune! I wont say how much but i coud easily of bought a ps3 and an xbox insted!
Il try get some pics up soon!
Gonna try get something done on it on friday and take some pics then!
Thats the game mate! Good to see another one getting sorted
Brings back some memories of when I arched mine.
Il look out for ya on the sose aswell!
Keep up the good work Dave

Will do mate
Ive got a bunch of mates In Edinburgh that have all got mk1 and mk2 escorts but none of them are registered with anything!
Dunno why! they go to all the shows they just never bothered to register anywhere! Theyve built a fair few of them 2! alot of them are probably floating about these sights too
Got crackin on 2day a wee bit so heres some photos of the progress so far!!!
Rear end complete!!
You're making some good progress there Dave
Keep it up - the pictures are getting better
Out for a drive on a sunny spring day reminds me why I got this car
Just a quick update!
Well sort of! Not really had any time to get back into it but as of next week im back to my 2days off a week! which means il get crackin back on the car!
Managed to get the car turned round anyway so i can start planning my plan of attack on the front end!
With the front end in full light and many a cup of tea planning it ive discovered that im gonna be a busy boy on the front end! The front panel i thought might just get patched up is goin to need to be replaced! Plus theres quite alot of fabricating to be done on the drivers side soot well/inner sill/outer sill/A post and splash panel!
Looking forward to gettin stuck back in tho!
Got a message from my mate with the mk2 cossy build with a little photo! The shells been painted to il need to head over and have a wee nosey!
Some good work going on there, should be proud of yourself!
Keep up the good work and updates!
Ginge
Great Lookin Project so far mate! lookin forward to seein where you take it!!
Cheers for the comments guys!
Im quite happy with whats been done so far! Time to get proper stuck into the front end! The plan is by the end of the year it WILL be in paint!
Got back into the mk2 yesterday after fighting off the january blues!!
Made a little start on the floor! The inner sill had a nice bit of rot in it so i chopped it out and got a fresh new plate welded in its place! Also a little plate just at the side of the gearbox tunnel where there was a liitle bit of rot got a fresh new plate inplace also!
Marked out where i need to chop the rest of the floor for a new section so i recon il get stuck into that next week as ive got the whole week off!!
Also sat with my dad and marked out where all the new bits are fitting around the splash panel sill and a post and wing rails and what need to be cut!
Im hoping for a successful weeks work next week so il see how i get on!
Although i may be tempted to tear up the dirt on my mountain bike for a couple of days!
Any way , only managed one photo of the plate on the gearbox tunnel before my phone died!
Went round to my mates last night to check the progress on the mk2 cossy so theres a couple of photos of that too!!
Hey folks
Managed to get a few hours in last week but due to the student lifestyle of getting plastered this weekend this is the first time ive had to update this
Anyway, I got the the rotten part of the floor cut out! Rather than replacing the whole lot i just replaced a section cause the rest of the floor was minted! I have a whole new drivers side floor there but just decided to use a little bit of it! With a shit load of measuring and trimming and measuring and trimming again i managed to get the floor sitting in flush and welded it all up! So the floor is finished!
Then i got stuck into the splash panel!. And with a little bit of chopping and trimming that went in no problem aswell!
Ive got the little section of the outer sill in place where it meets the a post, i just need to do a little bit of filing to get it sitting flush then that can go in next!
Later this week il hopefully get the sill in-place and get the wing rail finished off on the drivers side!
Oh and p s i keep forgetting my digital camera so the photos are shite again! Sorry fellas!

Oh yeah i almost forgot...Just bought an old granada aswell on the gay-bay.
Engine and gearbox donor for the escort so all is good! Gonna go pick it up on thursday! weather permitting
Il get the engine out of that and my dad will strip the engine and box down and rebuild it! Gonna keep it all pretty standard just now!(engine wise) Just so we can hopefully get it on the road by next year! Then once its on the road i can start adding bits to it gradually! Like gettin the bottom end done and fitting a cam, carbs etc.....
My mates will possibly take the granada shell for a wee project but if not, if any one wants it just give me a shout and il sort you out a price! Be a pretty decent car for a v8 or v6 i recon!
well done, some good work there buddy
cheers mate
