Another little bit of progress! Finally after lying around the garage for about 3 years, the fuel tank is in! Just need to attach the bowl properly and get it all connected up.
Were gonna get the rear window in in the next couple days as well

Hey Folks
Still trying to bash on with this before the little one comes along. Pulled the car out last weekend so i took a couple of photos, windows are all in now apart from the windscreen which i need to get.
I spent the afternoon painting the roll cage so i can get that fitted into the car, the sooner the better cause i keep falling over the bloody thing in the garage!
Just been plodding away on a few little jobs recently i.e. I've got the rear quarter cards made up using 3mm foamex board (pvc board) with a vinyl wrap applied to the top and some rubber edging strip around the outsides, I actually looks quite smart! ill get some pics up soon, I've got some board left so ill make up the door cards soon as well.
Ive also started to make a detachable gearbox tunnel so hopefully ill have that finished fairly soon as well.

Cheers guys, much appreciated
What offset are your wheels and what width axle you run?
Looking good mate.....that'll be two arched pinto'd mk2's kicking about Lothian
Cheers guys
Wheel offset is ET12 and I'm running an english axle
Cheers Erikmex, Is yours going about or is it a project?
Hey folks
As usual, its been a while since i updated this. It has been progressing, slowly but still progressing
Ive been a bit lazy with the photos so ill try and remember and get a few pics next time I'm round there. I think the main thing looming over my head just now is the wiring which i think I'm going to get someone else to do if I'm honest because me and electrics don't mix at all
I now have the roll cage in the car which i managed to get into the car without a single scratch!
Ive still to get the windscreen so the front part of the cage isn't in yet. Ive finished all the quarter and door cards using foamex PVC board with carbon wrap which is super light. The brakes lines are all in and the bias box is all connected. I now have the exhaust fully fitted which is an ashley single box exhaust. The braided fuel lines are all in along with the fuel tank, pump and filter. I just bought a new single piece prop shaft which is now fitted. I also decided to fit some gas struts to the bonnet, i seen it on a car at Silverstone last year and thought it was a really neat and simple solution. Turns out it was a bit of a nightmare but i got there in the end. I used bonnet struts from a Mk3 Mondeo which worked quite well.
Im sure theres a million other little jobs that have been done on the car but i can't think today at all.
Im in the process of making a list of everything electrical i need to buy so i can start figuring out the wiring loom, or so that i can pass the car to someone and say (wire all this up please)
I can't think what to do with the clocks. Ive got the bog standard clocks with no rev counter etc, how easy would it be to remove the fuel levels and water temp gauges from this and fit an aftermarket rev counter in the space. Has anyone done this before? it would be handy to see a picture of how it looks?
Also i managed to finally get a pair of door handles thanks to Darran at Escort-Tec, there chrome and don't have key but I'm sure ill be able to get a key cut for them somewhere easily enough! I just need to figure a way of painting them black without the paint flaking off!
Cheers folks

I just had a look at some pictures of your car there. Lovely bit of kit mate, it looks fooking gorgeous! A very similar spec to my one although i think you might be that little bit better spec'd, Lovely car mate,
Im sure I've asked you before but where in Edinburgh are you, be nice to swing by sometime with my Pops to drool over your car!
I stay just outside Peebles now mate....bigger garage lol, ill be at Knockhill May 16th & 17th for the Colin Mcrae emorial Rally and a few hillclimbs at Forestburn this year, car has had a few upgrades since the mag feature, big set of AP's etc. If your ever down the Borders way give me a shout.
How's tricks Davie,,,,,you got a rough idea when it will hit the road.....looks stunning by the way,,,need to get mine started soon.
Im sometimes in Peebles to go biking at Glentress, ill give you a shout and see if your around next time I'm there always good to have a look at how other people have done things so i can get ideas etc.
You on Facebook mate? always handy to have local contacts and fellow Escort nuts!
Hey Barry
Im all good mate, The little fellows taking up most of my time these days but occasionally I'm allowed out to play with the car! Ideally we want to get the car running and ready to roll this year and hopefully on the road by next summer. But just depends on funds and time etc etc!
What you got in your garage these days? still got the purple Mk1 and arched Mk2?
Christ I've been up Glentress about thousand times but I've yet to venture to Innerleithen yet, one day!
Im David Eadie, profile pictures me and my little lad
Hello again everyone
Still plodding away on this, almost feels like I'm pissing in the wind a little but overtime i start to struggle for motivation, i just need to open the garage door and the motivations back!
I actually had a note through the door the other week there from a random person saying that if i ever decide to sell to give them a ring, a long with a fairly substantial offer! But ill never sell it, and i look forward to enjoying it with my Son etc etc!
I made the mistake of fitting the windscreen and not cleaning the over spray off first, only to realise that it was covered in really deep scratches, so the windscreen has been out and a spanky new one has been fitted! So the car is completely water tight!
Ive got everything electric for the car that needs to be wired up. I got a set of sport clocks with rev counter, push button start from an S2000, a few toggle switches, battery cut off switch, a few extra gauges for the dash, and a little shift light(cheapo)
Ive also ditched the original headlights for some new halogen ones, they were interesting to fit!
Managed to come across a nice little washer bottle and motor for only a few quid(eBay special) a lot smaller than the original and neater in the engine bay.
I did the final bit of painting on the car which was underneath the arches and front spoiler, so the spray guns went away only to be dug out shortly after when i managed to put a dent in the door with one of the roll cage legs!
Picked up some new door mirrors from PeterLloyd, questionable quality but there fine. The passenger door never had a mirror fitted so i had to gingerly drill holes in the newly painted door!
Picked up an alloy oil catch tank which ill fit in the next day or 2. All the ss braided fuel lines are in and the battery is in the boot in the new alloy battery cage i got at santa pod.
Ive been scratching my head on a towing eye solution at the front, and probably the back too if anyone has any suggestions? and not those pishy cloth ones!
Currently waiting one a local fella to come round and give me a quote for the wiring, but I've also bagged a few more contacts so hopefully this will be done soon so we can get the thing fired up!
After that its really just little odds and sods to get the car finished, but the budgets tight so were aiming to get the car ready for summer next year!
Also need to pick some seats and get a steering wheel and some harnesses. Theres a couple of nice deals on Sparco Revs just now but I've heard there only for people with 32' waist or less so i thought my ever expanding 34' waist may fit better in the Evo 2s
I had the little lad in the garage the other day there and he's already showing a big interest in the car, he's obsessed with cars (i think I've created a monster!)
Finally got the car off the stands last night so ill get the thing out in the drive and get some decent pictures soon, i just trawled through my phone for the most recent pictures of it and the one below are the best i had, the bottom one was taken last night
Cheers
Looks good mate, I've got a spare tow eye that bolts on the roll bar mount, pop down and I'll give you it.
Nothing mate, it's not that bonnie but will clean up, it's just a tube with a shaped steel tow eye welded to it, just needs a wee paint.
Nice one mate, sounds ideal, Il bring you a wee 6 pack of beer or something cause you sent us those washer jets as well!
You been out in the Mk2 recently, be good to have a little look at it actually, looks braw!
Dave
It looks very nice I have a set of wheels though that would fill those arches and You need a black breathible oil filler cap. As for a towing eye get a long metal one from a srap motor and weld it to the front
Dave give me a call mate I have a few bits that you may be intrested in

Cheers mate
I think I'm all good for most stuff bud! Got some 15" minilites for it and theres a hole in the rocker for a breather which ill connect to a catch tank. I just need to find the right sized hose barb to put in the hole and I'm sorted!
I think I'm sorted for the front towing eye now but for the rear i think ill just bend some large metal rod into a loop and weld it to the chassis leg, seen it done neatly from someone on here so i think ill copy that idea
Hey Folks
Managed to get the Escort out the garage for a little breath of fresh air, its been a while!
Also i had to put my wifes Mini in the garage to try remove the cobra stripes! ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!
Anyway, heres some recent picures of the Escort!
Cheers
D
Looking great
car looks great, wish mine was as complete as yours
the kid seems to like it as well
what gear knob is that ?
keep it up !
Davie,I have sparco revs in the purple motor if you want to see if you can "fit" into them before you purchase a set
Thanks mate I wish it was on the road! Big mortgages and nursery costs are definitely slowing down the process
Heres where i got the gear knob

Thought id pretend to have an expensive quaife box
That's looking good - without any graphics or stripes on it looks really sharp!
Hi Folks
Still plugging away on this, only really managing a little bit at a time due to being stupidly busy at work. My Dads been plodding away on it more than i have (total legend!) and has managed to get a good start on the wiring. We've got seats now, although only one of them is in, but i have the second one. Various little odds and sods added under the bonnet. Were very nearly at the turn key point. The next coming months are gonna be a bit mental (baby 2 on its way!!) but hope to get the car running very soon. Had a great weekend out at the classic ford show with my Dad and picked up a few bits, mainly a new front grille which is just giving the car that even more complete look!
Thought id pop some images of it up of how it is just now!
Cheers fellas
Making the most of it being a little quiet at work today!
I've made these up myself as we've got a vinyl machine that we use for signage and we've got loads of black. Atleast its free, if i don't like the Mexico look ill just peel them off again About an hours work to save £60, Just hope I've got all my measurements right!
Dave,
The car looks great mate. I have one of these in black or yellow if you want one PM me your address
