Hi Folks
Taking a bit of a different route with the updates here
Ive decided to just start doing vlogs on my YouTube channel. Ive been swithering on this for a while as i thought it would be quite a nice thing for me to look back on! I wish i started them on day 1, think the grey hairs coming in pretty fast
This ones a bit long unfortunately as its a bit of an introduction but i plan on keeping future videos to a maximum of 5 minutes.
Felt really awkward infront of the camera but im sure in time ill get more used to it
Anyway hope you enjoy
Cheers
Great video.
Really need to hear it running too.
Like the dancing smurf on your bonnet.
I have the XR4x4 Rear brake set up on mine ,its not much better than a good set of well serviced drums really
But , you know ... it looks good
Changing the Diff will change the characteristics of the cars driveability , If i had to choose 0-60 or a Nice drivers car , but its your project
Looking forward to the next Vlog
Hi folks

Another exciting episode!
That's brilliant Dave well done on getting in the Retro Ford Magazine...
Gutted to say the least
Whilst travelling to Knockhill yesterday to do a track-day, i hit a deer whilst travelling about 70mph! Cars a bit of a state but to be honest, i'm feeling quite lucky as it could of been a hell of a lot worse! There was absolutely nothing i could of done, high sided trees either side of the road and it just came out of nowhere!
Luckily it all looks to be cosmetic, Front panel needs replaced, front grills toast, headlights smashed, and drivers side bumper is buckled along with the brackets. Looks like the bonnet has a crease in it too!
Looks like the deer has stumbled when i hit it, Luckily it wasn't on its feet as it would of went over the bonnet and possibly through the windscreen!
Im just gonna put a band aid on it for now, try bend it out a bit, get a new headlight and number plate and keep using it. Over the next few months i have zero time to fix it properly, but i will get fixed and will look as good as it once did!
Ouch, I feel for you...
I take it you're sure the radiator and fan an the like is all okay? You haven't got an oil cooler tucked away in the front there either have you?
The radiator looks ok but need to pull it out and have a look, theres no lecci fan in front of the rad yet so were good there. nothings leaking out the car but it is smoking a bit out the exhaust so need to look into that, dont think thats anything to do with the crash though
Hi Folks
I went round to the garage last night to have a better look at the damage. Took the radiator out and luckily theres no damage at all to that!
Looking behind the front panel, the vertical central support is split and has taken the majority of the impact. Ive basically put a heavy piece of wood against the back of the front panel and levered it back out again using a large pry bar. Its pulled the panel out fairly straight. A little knock here and there and i think its the best i can do to it for now without painting it. Like i say, im basically putting a band aid on it for now and will fix it properly at a later date. I took the grill off and loads of the slats are broken but im hoping with a bit of sealer behind the breaks, it'll at-least hold it together. Headlights out and waiting on the replacement to arrive. The bowl is a bit broken but might be salvageable! Bumper brackets need to come off now and stuck in a vice to straighten them up again. The quarter bumper itself is quite badly buckled and is rather hard to bend back to shape as its fookin solid. The bolt that bolts the bumper to the front wing has ripped through the wing so need to do a bodge on that! I can get a new plate printed at work, in fear of ripping the paint off, ill just stick it on top of the existing one to hide the splits in the paint a bit. I can quite tell if the bonnets damaged yet, i didnt have a proper look at it but it seemed like the is a slight warp to it.
It looks a bit messy at the front now compared to the magazine feature, show winner that it was before But it will return to its former glory in the future. Im actually wondering if i can pull the panel straight enough i can get away with filling it, blocking it and painting it. That wont be till atleast next year but im hoping i can get the panel hammers out and try save the front panel
dam, there's always something to set you back. Fortunately it doesn't look too bad. Soon be back.

That's the same trouble I use to have with my clutch cable. It just used to melt them, used to last about half an hour it was knackered. I ended up making up a heat shield between the cable and manifold in the end, it worked though.
Have you thought about having a bespoke cable made for it, wouldn't have a clue how much they charge but it would be worth an inquiry at least? You could still get the correct ends on it and they'd make it to what ever length you want it.

Or similar sort of company maybe.

This was the company I was thinking of originally.
