Yeah...
Yeah...
wow nice car mate..
this is looking good buddy a lot of effort, fiddling & work gone into it to make it what it is nice one
may i know what is ur brake setup? tq.
A lot of fiddling to get things 100%... well 99% takes all the time... cheers mate
Teflon, the front struts started life as standard drums. They were modified to accept Toyota Corolla discs and callipers, and then modified to accept a Subaru Legacy Bilstein upright that was then converted to coil overs.
The brakes don't feel as good as a new car, (probably due to the servo/master cylinder set up, which is a bit of an unknown) but they feel a lot better than drums.
i didnt know that escort brake has the drum setup too, mine is the disc brake.. anyway nice car u have, bfore i bought my car last month your car was inspiring me... hehe just go through your page... i was in ayutthaya from monday to thursday last week, stayed in Krungsri river hotel... great thailand... love the thai tradisional massage )
If you come to Bangkok, get in touch, we can meet up.
i just bought sept 2010 issue of classic ford. saw ur car the reader's car of the month... congratulation mark!
I bought some new wheels 13x6 mini light style wheels. The ones i currently have on are 13x7.
I have had them polished and the centers painted orange, and new 175/60/13 tires.
I have changed the wheels as i intend to fit an axle from an AE86 with a LSD and it is slightly wider... these 6 inch wheels should give me the clearance i need, my friend has already done it with 6 inch wheels.
Not too sure about the center colour... hoping it will grow on me...
What do you reckon?
Just watched your vid mark and she does rev really well, very crisp and sounds strong.
For me i think the wheels looked better silver, but as you say it could be a grower...
Or maybe anthracite centres would look good on the orange car??
Hmmmm....... I'm going to leave em for the time being and see if they grow on me. If not, its easy enough to get em painted again. Anthracite may be a goer
nice car mark, how much is the Ae86 LSD axle there?
mark, do u know what is the hub to hub surface width for escort english axle and AE86 LSD? what's the different? tq.
Not sure yet, but i will let you know when i do it
I think my axle (casing) is 48.5 inch... I would imagine the AE86 is 49 or 50 inch. Which means i need about 1.5 inch each side, which i should have with the smaller wheels... just!
But then the hubs might be smaller, or even bigger!... I'll post it up when i know.

Great video Mark - some really nice metal in that race and you were just blitzing em!
The mk1 looks noticably quicker that the rest of the cars on the vid, you've really got her well set up pal
Any more vids from the twisty stuff?
Cheers Gaz.
I did start at the front... so I had a good chance from the beginning
The car went well, if i had some fatter tires, it would have been faster as it was squeeling it's way round the tight corners.
This is the only vid that was taken...
Next time i'll get someone stood on the twisty part with a camera...
don't bully him if happens to be u guys are meeting up....
ahhahhaha...

I have only just seen the magazine today. This is a Magazine here in Thailand, which was published Oct 2010.
I have had an AE86 axle fitted to the car with LSD.
On Sunday i went to my first Gymkhana event with the car... Was a good laugh, but the handbrake wasn't working, and below 3000rpm the car bogs down (because of the throttle bodies) So it wasn't ideal. (excuses excuses )
My time was 35.01 seconds.
The best time was 31.?? (FWD CRX with hydraulic handbrake)
1st timed run i went off course...
I will link the second timed run when someone uploads it
This mini did well... 1000cc
Celica with a turbo.

2nd run... I ALMOST went off couse
A few pics...
1 more vid...
I like this one, cos at the end some Thai guy (the organizer) complains "Herrrrryyyy Falang" which means something like "Oh Dear You Foreigner" I guess he thinks i was stupid
Looks like you had some fun , well done on the time
maybe it would have been better if it had rained
A bit of snow might have been even better.
Some pics of the rear axle.
It's longer than the original axle, and even with 6inch rims the tyres are still catching the arches.
I have tried my best to pull them out a touch so they dont catch, they are now not catching on the lips of the arch, but they are catching on the inner tub of the arch when the suspension travels over a big bump. Pulling the arch out has made the outer arch look a bit of mess, rippled and cracked the paint.
I have a set of bubbles here for the car and i have taken it over to the paint shop today to get them fitted... Pics coming soon...
Few pics from today...
No going back now...
Nice to see a car getting used and enjoyed. The arches will be worth it. Was it a hard decision in the end to cut it up?
Shame to cut it up , but if needs must ...
SO , New arches = New wheels ?
