i have done a few of the tin sumps from retro ford and found the best way to get a leek free sump is to use the sealant supplied by dave at retro ford
is apply sealant to the block place the gasket on to the block sealant onto the gasket put the sump on nip up the sump only slightly (if you tighten up too much the gasket starts to slip out) then wipe round the gasket taking away all the excess sealant make sure there are no spaces gaps in the sealant then leave it overnight to set then tighten up and hopefully you should have a leek free sump
Not good mate
Can you use a later thick rubber type gasket from a CVH ???
i just ordered a new sump gasket from retro ford and there sealant 2i think they use a thick rubber gasket from a cvh anyway because they both look the same to me mate
thanks for the comments lads I will take the advise and use it.
engine back out tomorrow n gotta get new oil pressure switch too

if it aint broke, break it!
i have been doing some work on my escort for the first time in 3 or 4 months i picked up a atb lsd axle the other day.this way i can build the complete Axel off the car with complete disc conversion using sierra calipers and then swap the axles over later on.
i am going to need to weld some some brackets back onto the axel because they had been removed to be used in a national hot rod tigra.
but it all looks to be in good condition.
if it aint broke, break it!
its already has front discs from a fiesta fitted but they dont have a mechanical hand brake mechanism fitted so these will be swapped
Atb lsd
if it aint broke, break it!
The problem I have is the brackets that were supplied by dave sims designed to use the sierra caliper i have are drilled so the caliper can only be mounted dead above or below the hub.
Is there any reason why not to mount them like that?
The ones I have seen are mounted to the rear of the car as like on the fronts.
not only that but the caliper doesnt line up with the bracket anyway as there isnt enough room to get the caliper mounted to the bracket and get the disc flat against the hub. Ill post a pic so you see what I mean.
if it aint broke, break it!
Fits inside wheel ok but is mounted dead centre at top or bottom.
if it aint broke, break it!
Caliper problem doesnt fit
if it aint broke, break it!
I adapted mine and welded them on mate I had to tho as I have a narrow axle and needed to clear the panhard rod bracket id move them where you want and weld them on
