    capri struts

I have converted the front struts of my rally car to coil overs, I believe they are from a Capri. I now purchased a set of Ap world cup calipers from an escort and the bolt holes don't match. Someone has told me that the struts from a capri had two different caliper mounting centres. Can anybody advise if this is correct????
If I tried to move hole on the caliper lugs to suit the spacing on the strut they would be outside the caliper lugs.
    Anybody any ideas??

Did they all not run m16 callipers Of one form ? If so the struts will be correct are you missing some mounts for the ap brakes ?
What size discs are using with the ap set up ?

    Re: capri struts

    I have 260mm x 28 disc
Cant see how a mount would go on. The centre line of the mounting holes on the caliper roughly line up with the outside of the holes on the strut and if I were to move the mounting holes on the caliper to suit the holes on the strut they would be right on the edge of the mounting lugs of the calipers. This would be out with AP's figures.
I was told that possibly a Mk1 Capri strut was imperial and the struts from the 2.8 Mk3 were say metric, and that this may be why different.

I have seen brackets for brakes but they mainly throw the caliper further out which is no use for 13" wheels.

Is there any body that has world cup AP brakes on a Escort with 13" wheels advise on the distance between the centre line of the two mounting bolts

    Re: capri struts

Mistake above as the brakes are AP Monte Carlo ones not world cup disc is 260mm x 28mm and the struts have removable steering arms.

THe centre to centre distance on the caliper mounting holes is roughly 88mm

this may be a clue ?

I am no expert on these but it looks like you buy the callipers and have them drilled to suit, the above is done for you.

Did these definitely come from an escort ?

I have had M16 calipers on my anglia which runs mk2 standard struts and have moved these callipers to my escort which runs 2.8i modded struts and they are a straight swap.
