    Xflow

Hello again I've been pulling my hair out and I'm sure it's a really small problem 
Setting ignition on tdc there's no spark
but I get a spark for no 1 cylinder between the timing case and the sump under dizzy and i get a spark for number 2 cylinder the direct opposite

Not really sure what you mean here,

Timing will be BTDC i am not sure of the figure of a x-flow off the top of my head but say 10degs Before TDC or BTDC. So line the crank mark up on that probably the second mark closest to the TDC mark (but check) (out of the 4 marks on the timing cover) then swing your dissy to align nr 1 and the rotor arm at that point.

Be aware you could have it 180 degs out i.e nr 1 could be on the exhaust stroke if this is the case you can take out the dissy turn the engine 1 complete turn on the crank and put the dissy back in repeat the timing procedure.

Also watch the rotor arm move as you push in the dissy as that moves as you slide it in on the gears.

you can get it fairly accurate by using a small 12v bulb clipped to the points and earth and it will light when the points open at the correct BTDC value so you an watch this as you move the dissy back and forth.

when spinning the dissy watch also out for the spring clips that hold the cap on, they always get in the way of the block.

Also check you have the plug leads in the correct firing order. etc

this should get you going if that is what you are struggling with.

Firing order for crossflow is 1-2-4-3 (quite unusual ...)

    Re: Xflow

i have got the number 1 piston to tdc firing stroke valves closed, put the dizzy pointing to number one with all the relevant leads 1243 going cc,and there is no sign of life whether i put it on 6 deg or 10 deg or tdc doesnt matter, there is fuel wetting up the plugs so thats not the issue.
the reason i put the pictures were i checked for a spark and there was one so i was getting confused the engine was hard to turn over so had to be ign issue,so pulled spark plug out and turned the engine over by hand and it was sparking about 120 deg out ? far left side of block and number two was sparking after tdc or just a bit on so tried to change dizzy and it made no difference whatsoever,so am wondering what could be amiss? cam timing?

set engine 10 degrees btdc and if on points set distributer so points just opening and see if rotor arm is pointing to where terminal in cap is,
