Hi folks,
odd question - i want to gain more rear ground clearance while keeping the softer leafs, 146 are way to stiff for the lanes - can i get my soft single leaf springs decambered the oposite way to raise the rear ride height?
cheers!

Initial thought is yeah why not although you are adding more 'camber' not de-cambering them. But one problem may be the rear spring hanger
becoming more horizontal than vertical as designed due to eye - eye distance shortening due to greater curve. The more horizontal the hanger becomes
the more ride ht. you lose. Probably be better to buy 118lb multi leaf springs at +1 or +2" ride height?
Just had a look and they are tricky to find! Info from The Rally Prep. Manual - CD8 is 115lbs and apparently +1" - see attached
yeah i have the book, i just assumed all the CD* springs were looong gone out of production stock? im surprised no-one is making them, why would burton any everyone else stock 146lb when they're useless on anything but a race car ? id say mine have sagged a fair bit too and i normally carry two spare wheels, a new-ish standard set would probably do me as good
What dampers are you using, i use 146's on the road with Bilsteins and find them soft
same setup for me, 146lbs also with bilsteins, use in demo events, no issue, not too hard,
but I've seen that bilsteins GP1 exists in different rate.
bilsteins also, the old style upside down ones (piston attaches to the spring plate, damper body goes to the car)
i've honestly never tried them, but ive heard and read alot of reports (on here) about them being way to hard for loose surfaces and they cause excessive oversteer, skipping across the surface of hard gravel or bumpy concrete etc.
road car i'd be much more inclined to try, but i need good grip on gravel/grass etc which ive been told 146's dont give! ?
Ah ok, when you said lanes i thought you meant tarmac
Both 116lb and 146lb genuine Ford GP1 springs would be ideal to use as neither are too stiff, however their supply will have long dried up.
The problem now with all the after market springs that are available that no two suppliers are making the same poundage springs despite them saying that they are. How many of us have ever bothered to check.
I bought a pair of Multi leaf 146lb ones from RACE. The springs have so much camber that the car is sitting like a Cart off one of the Western films.
Didn't they back in the 70's produce longer rear spring shackles for exactly this reason? Seem to remember seeing them with different holes so the car could be raised to adjustable heights... But then you also saw people hanging red lights under the car to show off their shiny diff
hmmm seems there is no easy solution for this - which is extremely surprising. so what were saying is no one remakes anything under 146lb for escorts?
Phone these guys up and see what they can offer , ive used them before for other stuff
this is from another forum i use ....
If you are looking to replace your MK1 or MK2 leaf springs look no further than Owens @ Rotherham. I have just had new 50mm multi-leafs made for my MK1 Mexico and they look great.
I had them made from original drawings held at the company, with tapered and rounded off ends. They took two weeks approx' from order (although I was not in a rush), and I collected them last Thursday.
Not fitted yet but will update with pictures next month. Price around £220.00 per pair depending on requirements, finish, auxileries etc.

GARTRAC will decamber your old springs for you. I've got some 105lb single leafs and they quoted £115 to remove the old bushes, decamber and supply their Prop one's and deliver back.
You'll have to delivery yours to them though.
