    Escort MK1 and MK2 in Grp2 with Pinto. What is allowed?

    Hi, I want to build an Escort MK1 for Grp2 Rallying.
    I want to run it with the 2.0 Pinto engine.

    What is allowed in Grp2? Suspension, brakes, bodywork etc.
    I have heard that more can be done to a MK1 than a MK2.
    I have build my MK2 in Grp4, but that is not allowed with an Pinto. I was told, that the 4 link and turrets are not allowed, nore are the Tarmac arches.
    I know that the rules are in Annex k/j, but what does that mean for the Escort MK1 and MK2

    hope you can help me out in Escort language

    Reply on the Mk 2 Grp 2;

    Engine: standard crank and rods. Head free, 45s allowed. No dry sump.

    panhard rod - no link bars. Bilsteins front and rear (turrets - debated - I ran them. Some say you can some say you can’t. Homologation shows axle with upright shockers).

    twin pot calipers front , drums rear.

    Arches allowed.

    as you say - much more freedom as Mk 1.

    Surely if RS based tramps bars would be standard? 4 links bars would be taking the piss!

    You need proper Homologation papers from the period of your car otherwise you are building a car on hearsay.

    I recall from memory some of the modifications as TimGR says sounding correct but you need concrete evidense before making alterations to your car.

    I think only four speed gearboxes were allowed and you could fit 1.80 inlet valves on a Pinto, as for head porting I don't know what was legal.
