    Pinto flywheel dowels

Can anyone point me in the right direction for where I can purchase dowels from to fit my pinto flywheel/crank? A friend is doing my engine build free of charge but I am having to source the bits for them. I’ve seen mention before that burton sell them but couldn’t see what I would need.

You after the clutch cover to flywheel dowels, yes?

    They're here: http://www.burtonpower.com/clutch-lo...ons-fp517.html

Looks to be the same part for virtually all Ford flywheels.

i make my own, from a length of silver steel, and drill/ream holes to suit.

if you have to source dowels for him id be concerned as to whether he knows what he is doing

There is a pattern in Des Hammil’s book and also one with a sharp spike to mark the flywheel
I had one turned up when I had an engine balanced as the one I bought off eBay was the wrong size.
I tend to run 1 dowel using the predrilled hole in the crank and use ARP bolts on street motor

He has only asked me to source parts so that they don't end up going through his business, which as he is doing it all for free I think is fair enough.

He also seemed to think they would be available off the shelf. I'll let him know they aren't though.

We saw the Des Hammil instructions already so will follow those.

Burton do one for the xflow

I made mine on the lathe and drilled the flywheel where you could see the rust circle caused by the standard hole in the crank shaft. I used a punch on the edge of the hole in the flywheel to stop the dowel from coming out
