    st170 / rs turbo hybrid ???

    hi all
very new to this game so please be gentle!
i'm trying to get my head around a zetec turbo convertion. I have a st170 block with low comp. pistons and a 8v fiesta rs head, both manifolds and ecu. i also have the st head. i'm trying to work out what my best options, and what will go together and what will not!
what atvantages would i get if i used the st head and would something like emerald cope with the turbo and vvt. or should i just stick to the 8v. i also have 2turbo's toa355 (t3) i think there of an escort originally with larger wastegates. will they just bolt on? can anyone tell me what ijectors and plugs to run.
i'm hoping to get 270-300bhp do you think this is possible?
    thanks for your time

The ST170 (and even standard zetec) head is far far far superior to the cvh and will make much more power on the same boost level. Building a ZVH requires messing with the block to fit the CVH head but at least the standard manifolds and ecu can be retained. The zetec complete can work with the cvh manifolds with adaptor blocks or redrilling the head but an aftermarket ecu would be needed (and better anyway).

The Emerald can cope with turbo and VVT so I say go for the ST170 turbo rather than using the wank CVH head

She's built like a Steakhouse, but handles like a Bistro

ok thats great, thanks, so to make sure i'm right.

I keep st block and head (re-drilled for the rs manifolds with its throttle body) fit my t3 (maybe both) and get it emeralded

just out of curiosity which manifolds would be a bolt on job?

oh its going in a westfield!

stick with the 16v head if you want 300bhp, Getting 300bhp from a CVH head isnt cheap.

ST170 head will fit onto a silvertop Zetec, but you need to get round the water pump, and belt tensioner. I'd personally find a ST170 engine and use that. Better scope for the future.
