I've only just been offered a proper original one of those gearboxes (not MKF's reproduced one - the one that his was the inspiration for). It's not really for most cars - it's for small capacity race cars (such as Anglias and little two seaters) with a narrow torque band. It has a 1:1 5th gear so isn't really an upgrade for people with road cars looking for an overdriven top.

That should basically have read " the one that inspired MKF to make his"! Should have proof read!

If you have an Original that would be one of only 20 built ... rare as an icebeer in Africa ...
Indeed, Mark Kinman copied (and improved) an Original one to produce his version !

I have seen the photos of the box and I can be sure it is one of the rare ones. Of course it is of no use to me a) because I want an overdriven 5th gear; and b) because the chance of getting replacement parts for it would be slim to impossible. Oh, and c) the price was approx £2500!

I think Mark said it is unpossible to built an overdrive on the 2000E gearbox due to its layout ...

I agree, there is no room for the gears in the selector housing as the gear linkage/rods would be in the way.

It is a "white elephant" of a box for all but a select few!
