Mk1 Van problems

Hi I am restoring a Really bad Mk1 Van and on a previous bodge up

someone has removed the strengtheners out of the sills

. Any one got any ideas of how far forward they come as I only have the bolted in parts from the door shuts back. Any help, pictures and advice greatly apreciated ta

I've just replaced a sill on my van.. Think i have a picture somewhere

Did'nt know vans had this.

I didn't know it either.. Almost cut the damn thing off when removing the sill

Mine had been removed mid way down

I put a new sill over and spoted it to the new sill, with the remains of the top of orig sill as it was ok.

I did weld the badge area from it to the new full sill

The only prob with that strenthener is the new patt sills may not reach to the inner sill below, that may be why the previous owner had cut it to put the bodged sill skin on.

Mine fitted ok. Is the van sills different or do the pattern sills fit badly?

Thanks for the Pics, Very helpfull indeed. Is the strengthener trapped in the lower sill to floor seam as well? Looks like i'm going to have some fun trying to make them!! Interestingly your van has door pillars, kick panels, floors and chassis rails which mine is sadly lacking now i have removed the brazed in repairs and fibre glass

Don't think its gonna be on the road for the summer some how!!
