I know somebody. He's in Gullegem, Belgium. Has his own flow bench.

So at last the I4 2300 engine is in the car!!!
But I dont have the money atm for getting the carbs setup. I dont want to wreck the engine because its new. new bores, new pistons. I have installed the I4 rs2000 carbs on the engine. (it was a standard engine so 160hp) The 2300 has 300cc more and ulimate road pipercams. So I dont think the engine will start let alone run.
So my question is:
I would like to move the car so i can place an other car in the garage. But will it be pushing the car of sort of driving. I dont wanne wreck this engine with trying to start the engine.
Thanks

So a little update. I got the 2 Liter engine back in the car. The 2300 i put aside for now. Due to new rules we have the have a hans device and the new helmet. So i will be running the 2 liter 16v a year longer.
But now it has some improvents. I build the intake over. ported the head so it matches the intake.
It has a nice working pas system. And of a nicely working shortshifter. And did some tyding up.
So i started the engine up. But had some problems with heating. The engine overcooked. After some testing and so, i found out that the temp sensor is off and then the meter ses its cool 50° but its 100°. So I got a new sensor and some spare. Hopefully its the sensor and not the gauge.
But due the overheating i took the radiator out again and tryed to install a new fan. I had a fan from an other car. But when i tryed to install it. I blew a fuse from 20A at start up. So i got a 25A fuse, and yes it did startup. And then alot of smoke. So thats gone. Got on the internet and got an other one. thats on the way. Hopefully i can test the car this weekend.
I'll get some nice pics up later today.
Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
Here some pics:
The aldon intake from the 2.3 new matched with the I4 RS2000
Distrubitor from the 2.3, This was a pinto dizzy modded by me, to fit on the engine. Is a HAL, from H&H. Maybe a side cap for the distrubitor would be nice thing.
The standard exhaust lump from the 2.3 engine. I had a 4-1 on the RS2000 engine with 1 box. But last year i changed it because the engine was to loud. I had 104DB and the limit was 98DB. So made a new exhaust line, with 2 boxes. ( actually didnt test noice lvl yet. I need somebody with a iphone for that) Borrowed the rolling road from a local Shop (LMBracing) and the RS2000 engine didnt lose hp or torque. (gained a bit of NM) . I will even use this exhaust when i fit the 2.3.
Because i didnt find any standard Ford Taunus with a PAS. So i had to make some thing up on my own.
The steeringrack is from a Taunus TC3 (Cortina MK5), the pomp is from a Ford sierra with the I4 8v lump (with a bigger restricion.) The pump has a resctiction hole from 3mm this is enlarged to 5.5mm. And the bracket that holds the PAS pump is home made. Recutted the origenal one and rewelded it. Hope it holds :-)
The new aluminium sump gard, the plastik one wasn't in good chape anymore.
And a verry nice new sticker!!
Same New sticker
And a new Spoiler
A Double spoiler a escort mk2 one and a much bigger one.
And the capri and granada disk conversion. But got no pics. And some welding here and there, fixing holes and so.
Nex update will be when i get new Fan.
Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
Well done, keep on it !
Here are a couple more things I did in this year.
Because the engine sometimes overheated, I got a nice and decent fan. Now hope it does its job verry wel. It moves alot air, more then the one I had in it.
When I did My last race in 2010. The disks had a nice blue color, time to get some better brakes. I found in the classic ford mag a person who fitted brakes from the scorpio. But for some reason these didnt fit on my car. So these are collecting dust. Looked at HiSpec, they have a nice brakekit for my Taunus "Cortina 3/4/5- Capri 260/20mm Billet 4 Conversion" I can't get any bigger, because I sometimes use 13" up front. But srry to say a bit pricey for me. So tryed something else. Got the 2.8 capri vented disks. (the standard disk on the taunus were solid disks 240mm and capri disk is 245mm) And the 2.3 or 2.8 granada calipers. And yes, this worked! The spacer isn't right, they say 5mm spacer, but used a 7mm spacer to center the caliper. But thats not a problem. The nice thing about these is that they use the same size piston and have a bigger brake pad. (see pic) So I didn't need to change MasterCylinder. Got some EBC Greenstuff brakepads. And they look actually verry good. I hope the car will stop a bit faster :-)
This is the old Caliper
The 2.8 Granada Caliper
The pads. (The EBC are already installed)
Standard Size: 78 x 66mm
Granada Size: 98 x 68mm
Disk and Brake.
So Al I need to do is clean the car. See if the tempsensor is working and then hopefully keep it alive.
The first thing I will fo is a Drift day at zolder. on the 8th of february.
Anybody got some info on even better brakes, always allowed to let me know. Maybe i can get a 260mm disk on the calipers?

Sierra cosworth brakes, there's an item on here somewhere how to install (even with 13 inch wheels)
Fit 283mm disk? with i assume the same calipers? I assume its a bit different then a escort? the taunusTCII-III (cortina MK4-5) have a different front train setup so i assume the rest to, from brakes and wheelhub. Or am I wrong?

So we had a nice opening this year. I took the time to gp drifting and damm i enjoyed it!!! And it actually went verry well. The rs2000 doesnt lack on power and the power steering is awsome. Will be doing this again.
Here i have couple pics. Got over 1000 picture. Thanks to friend of mine Peter.
I hope you like them!!!

Nice!
You should make a GIF of it
Humm I think your front tire is mounted reverse!
Don't Scrap it, Restore it !
What type of wheels are these. They have nice offset and fill the arches well. I think that they would look well on a Capri.
To finish first, you must first finish
If i know how to make a GIF i have some more, this was just one good drift.
Those wheels normally for Golf GTI's or Scirocco's but i found a set that had 4x108, never seen them sinds. Would love another set to :-p

I only have probs from leaking at the top. the cork isnt working good anymore. But will head new head gaskit so i will make some pictures. I'll look for some pics i got.

Over in summer 2013 my dad wanted a new paint job for the car. I know its a late update but here she is.
Here it is on the circuit (Valkenswaard, Holland)
I got a new banded 7inch 13inch wheels for the rear. They are steel but still look nice on the car, they are painted bleu simular like the car.

Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
I found some old pictures from the winter 2013-2014.
For some reason the 2.8 taunus radiator didnt keep the rs2000 engine cool. So like more people do, i placed the radiator in the back. So less weight in the front and a bit more in the back. A bit more...
The 2.8 radiator in the front had +- 5 liters of water in the system. This new system has 15 liters of water. It has a Double fan controle. 1 fan works with a temp sensor and the other I controle. Does it keep the Engine cooler, it did on the test race in march 2014, and it keeps the engine cool on idle (what the 2.8 rad didn't do)
It has a big alloy radiator (nissan skyline R32 GTR)
Inside the cockpit the metal tubes need protection incase they should burst.
Here some pics.
Here is the front without the radiator.
This is the radiator and tube setup
Inside the Cockpit
I had some scoops made up and the trunk but not yet sure if its going to stay, maybe lift the trunk a inch so the wind can come in.

In 2014 after a race my back gave away. After been home for 10 month nothing got better so, the surgery took place. in noverber 2014. The doctor told me to keep off racing for at least and of august. Because season is almost over then, I didn't race in 2015.
In 2016 i tried to get back to Rallycross but that didnt go wel. So after what thinking and still wanting to drive this car, I did a switch to Circuit racing. But one big difference. No competition. So only Track Days for fun. the plan is to get the car oke for Zolder and then go further and further, Plan is next year Spa Francorchamps.
The First outing on Zolder, i didn't change anything on the car. Just like it was. Couple of problems, the 5.14 atlas axle doesn't have a good topspeed. So that needs changing. The other problem was that my engine keeps overheating with 2 fans i would think it would be good. On Rallycross track it was fine.
I did some changes. I made a scoop in the left rear window for hopefully more cooling for the engine.
The other change i did was the switch the 5.14 atlas with a 3.78 koln axle. It has also a 100% locker in it. I had a brace for my atlas axle so I made one for my koln axle. Was a fun job to make. Its the same thickness 8mm. I orderd a couple braces actually the same as on a atlas axle. The tubes are the same. So less work :-)
The pink is a left over painting from ex girlfriend and was to lazy to change it.
The other thing i changed was the exhaust to a japspeed exhaust from a skyline :-)
The last outing was in april. I had a blast.
The koln axle did well. The car did a higher top speed then it had in its good old days! 146km/u with this axle it could do 203km/u
I have been using Harry's Laptimer and my best lap time was 2m16!! Awsome. My 2.0 ohc Ford Sierra i did 2m32 so Taunus is alot faster.
The overheating problem is still present. The scoop didn't do the trick. So i will need to do something else.

Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
Hello everybody,
After some trackdays on Zolder i was sold. I decided to fix alot of problems over the winter. Do some bodywork because the car is a little bit rusted.
The car still had problems like overheating and the dizzy broke for some reason. I got a other one but the turn in a other direction in a escort so it din’t work in my setup. So i binned it and finaly installed a edis setup on my engine. I make a curve from my old curve setup and It pulls like never before. The engine came to live!!!
So first the rest, more changes on the car yet again. A bigger tank, Rallycross didn't need more. So got a tank from a Trabant of 25 liters. So a bit better.
Because the engine kept overheating i finally put the radiator back up front, but because the engine is a little bigger then a Pinto i cut out some metal. On track test were verry good actually to good. The engine can't warm up past 70° Celsius, so blocked some off, so the engine could warm up. Will be making something out of plastic, because paper won't work in the rain.
I gave the trabant fuel tank a respray and with in
On the track they want to have lights in the cars. When i did Rallycross the car just needs brake lights. I in installad some head light and made the tail lights work again. I got some led for the head en taillights so my battery doesn’t suffer from the draw from halogen. There is only a night race in december and the track is well lighted in the dark. The full beam works also. The little fog light aren’t on the car anymore. Because the dont really work and it doesn’t look nice.

Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
So the big winter project,
It started because i would like to do at least every year a big circuit. And the my car needs to looks better then it does now. So this year the plan is to go to Spa Francorchamps. 2019 we hope to go to SilverStone, when Ford Fair takes place.
After the bodywork the car would need a respray, so looked on the internet and yes I didn’t find anybody racing a Taunus. My dad found a nice paint job on a Taunus. I loved the looks and a simpel desgin, oke i don’t have the wheel arches.
First off it started with the rear panels. They had 3 layers of metal. The previous owners just stuck more metal on the car. Got that fixed. It needed both sides. I even made more room for my exhaust so it sits more straight under the car. But i don’t have a picture of that.
The left side was so worse, I said it had a bit of rust... It had alot of rust. It needed a new wheel arch and i made it myself. I got some help, but it started life as a flat sheet. Me verry happy, and yes i found that the wheelarch was a 3 layer piece, the origenal piece was still under there. In front of the wheelarch the hole was a start, but i started cutting till I got 1 sheet metal. So its like 3 times bigger.
I got a new door for the car, because mine was dented after some rubbing,
When i installed the mt75 on this car the tunnel wasn’t big enough, so i just cut out some stuf and i was done. I just covered it with some plastic and was happy. But even that was going to be fixed. I didn’t fix this a friend of mine made this so i don’t get the credits for this, but its looks awsome.
So got everything fixed. In november i was allowed to have some place in a shed from a mate. I said in the beginning, i will just need it for some bodywork and then a respray. Finally in april i got the car done and resprayed. It look so long. Oh well its done and looks nice. I got even all my wheels sprayed to look nice and shiny. The final thing like stickers still has to be done.
So i hope you guys like it. After Spa i will be changing the 3.78 ratio with a 4.1. And a tune up on the engine because of the ecu now on the car.
The next big thing i want is in from a good suspension. So hopefully ajustable shocks and better springs to make it stiffer.
And just maybe some disk brakes in the rear. Got them already but need a verry good clean up.
But first some racing and having some fun.

I had some free time this weekend. Did some adjustments on the car. But the best is for now.
Here are some pictures from the car with stickers on and the wheels on. Hope you like
Sorry for the fuzzy camera but that happend when the pictures decreased in size. But you get the big picture. I still need to put the safety stickers on, they need to arrive first.
The interior fan was broken and since you can't buy them new. So I just binned it and used a 120mm fan from my pc and installed it where the other one was sitting. It works!! Awsome! Only it doesn't move alot of air. So orderd a 200CFM fan. Hope it does the trick.

Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
My last Track day from the Year. oke it was 8 december.
This year i noticed that my brakes aren't that good. I did a upgrada couple years ago, capri ventend disks and granada calipers and granada M/C. So this winter i'm gonne try and upgrade the brakes again for a bit more stopping power. I want the keep my 13" wheels so not alot of choice. So I found capri sport and they have a kit for fitting 260mm with 13" wheels.
So 260mm disk and a set of mondeo calipers will be the new brakes in front and finaly the rear drums wil go. Installing fiesta disks and fiesta calipers in the rear.
I will update here when i finaly get some parts and need to machine some parts to fit. But bad time to do stuff these days :-)
And hopefully better brakes and faster laps :-)
Oh yes i forgot, installed in front a set of lowered ford Transit MK4 spings in the front of my Taunus and wonder above wonder. they work a bit better. alot firmer ride better for the Track anyway

I don't think mondeo calipers fit ( unless kit changes) you need xr4 / Granada/ s2 escort turbo from memory.

wouldnt know. Ordered the bracket kit from caprisport in beginning of december and still waiting. I hope they fit :-)
Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
Had some fun on the Rolling road. My 2.3 engine still lives. Not to bad for a engine that i build on my own :-)
My 2.3 I4 scorpio engine had 145hp when it came to life. When I gave it a nicer 2nd life I did some head work with a rs2000 head en FR cams. A little bit cr boost from 10.0 to 10.7 :-). And 45 dellorto's and megajolt.
And after 6 years Racing and all the overheating it has 195hp and 242nm @6200rpm. So Boem yes still nice 50hp extra!
Got some advice from the person from the rolling road. Remove the big rear spoiler, kill to much speed. Use a rear muffler from a rs2000 mk2 escort, less noise and they are good and lose the jap speed exhaust.
The other thing he said would make more power Raise de CR. 10.7 is to low. I could see over 200hp.
So next month i will do some testing without the spoiler and see how it goes.
I told him i was going to build an other engine. maybe a RS2200 (2.3 block with 2.0 crank) and yes higher CR and a little bit wilder cams. Dunno yet. I will see the 1ste of may on Zandvoort in Holland
Ford Taunus Going RS2300 16v with 48s!!!
So the 1st of may past. I had a blast @zan dvoort.
On the rolling road my car did 210km/u and for some reason when i was on zolder 150km/u was the cars max speed. So with the advice from Arno for RR, remove spoiler. So I did. I hit 172.8km/u with my Taunus.
And the brakes are awsome!!! landrover M/C front 260mm with modeo calipers with yellow ebc and read fiesta front brakes and disk with green ebc. from 172 to 80 +- 100m I checked sessions from zolder with older brake setup 150 - 60 +- 180m.
So we have to see next time on zolder how the top speed wil be.
