I remeber the capital Escort 4 door 1979/80 IIRC had a london town graphic on the rear wings about the same time as the huntsman estate.
yeah thats what i thought..like some pics if poss if anyone got any
The Escort Capital is I would say the rarest MKII, they came out in 1979 and they were only available through London Ford dealers. 1000 cars were made and there are virtually no known survivors. I know of 3, but 2 of those may have since gone. They were in special colours that other Escorts (or any Fords) weren't available in they had stripes similar to the RS1800, had Capital on the rear wings and had round headlights. They also had other various extras to differ them from other Escorts.
If anyone gets offered one of these or owns one it would definatley be one to keep standard and not rally/mod as they'll be worth a fair bit in the future and would be a shame to destroy something so rare.
The Escort Huntsman was available in 1980 they made 350 of those, that also had exculsive paint and extras, there are 3 known survivors.
It's also worth noting that the Linnet and Goldcrest are pretty rare these days.
Back to the MKII Capital I know there was a connection to Capital Radio but does anyone know exactly what that was???
I think it was just sold around london ford dealers so the link to capital radio.
I remember these.
There was one for sale a while ago in red and looked mostly original with stripes etc still in place. Can't remember if it was for sale on ebay or in forum land.. Cant remember how much is was either

Hi everyone. I'm the owner of the Cortina Huntsman. Found your site as I'm still looking for info. on Huntsmans and a trawl of the 'net found your site. I've found various bits and pieces about why they were built and joined Buysellcortina.
Anyone got any info on these cars, please?
My (cortina) huntsman is now attending a few shows in the southeast, so come and say hello if you recognise the car.
Hoping to meet up with one of the escort huntsmans soon for some photos.
Good luck with the escort capital - will keep my eyes peeled.
Paul

Not as good as the photos make out, but I'm pleased as punch that it won best Mk5 at a BSC show in June.
My next show is hopefully going to be Autorama at Tunbridge Wells on Sun 9 August, then it's in to sort out the worst of the rust.
Hope to see you some of you there. Come and say hello. Thanks. Paul
