    '66 Anglia - Canada

Here's my car when I first got it, stripped out the interior and pulled the motor.

Battery rusted out the tray so I cut that out and had to also repair the front crossmember which was extremely rusted as well as the frame rail and the roll bar mount.

Fixed the front hole where the bumper slots through, passenger side door was extremely rotten.

Picked up a 1600 X-Flow from Vancouver Island

Door back on, got the lines all sorted. Chrome trim not going back on so the moulding clips are all gone.

Picked up Cortina GT brake calipers, hubs and rotors, also have MK2 Cortina Struts. Picked up a pair of 13x7s locally as well.

Boot Lid all cleaned up. Have to replace some rotten parts on the inside.

    Front coming along.

Just got my seats recovered and springs fixed.

Sanded down, painted again. As perfect as I'll be able to get it this time. A few passes of the 2000 grit takes out any dust and the most minimal orange peel.. Polishes up nicely.

    Suspension going back in.

Got a few things on order. Motor going in on Friday.

Got to the front brakes, Got Copper/Nickle pipe from Burton Power. Never done brake lines before, but this still is super easy to work with, bends nicely, don't need to have the tool clamped into a vice to flare the ends, just do it right at the car. Forgot to slip the fitting on once or twice, left a little extra each time just incase anything needs to be re-done.

Proportioning valve in, started running to rear.

Got the proper seals for the top half of the doors now.. they close.

Replaced both 1/4 Window Seals. What a bitch.

    Brakes are done, all bled.

Replaced the clips that hold the felt in the window.

Started running aftermarket 12 circuit wiring harness.

Dave dropped me off a steering wheel.

Glass is back in both doors, they are pretty much done.

Full interior kit from Aldridge arrived a few weeks ago, looks great. Still need headlining to go in, then will start putting glass back in.

Shaved the valve cover, painted it. New gasket..

Degreased and painted the gearbox. Steering is in now, The electrical is coming along.. Still wiring up the dash and rear lights and indicators.

Headliner went in today, took the man about 1.5 Hours. Not bad!

Interior will be going in next weekend.

Trumpets on, new clutch installed, gearbox is in.. wow its heavy.

    Re: '66 Anglia - Canada

Fabbed up an axle mount and body bracket for my panhard bar today, got the shocks welded in fully both sides now as well.

Did notice I will have to do something with my handbrake bar now.. Possibly just drill a hole through the mount or just bend up a new rod to go around the axle mount..

Well done, great inspiration to get me out into the garage, instead of browsing on this time sucking machine.

Thanks, most definitely will be. Never seen one on the road here. Quite a few people know what it is when I talk to them about it.

Everything classic here is either hot rods or muscle cars.

My wife wants a 1972 Nova or a 64.5-66 Mustang coupe once my Anglia is done.

Great job so far. In Britain everyone's grandad or dad had an Anglia and they always tell me that

I would love an earlier Nova the more boxier shape like a 67 think they are cool.

    Re: '66 Anglia - Canada

Yea I like those ones too, I'm not overly picky but I have my favourites. Wife doesn't want anything Mopar tho.

Definitly will be getting something with a V8 and a lumpy cam for sure. Mustangs are decently cheap here, equivalent of maybe £5500-6000 for a 64.5-66 model with no rust. Would be upgrading everything on it thought so might wait a year or two before jumping into the next project.

Always lots for sale around here.

American Cars pretty plentiful over there? I imagine it would be like me finding English stuff here. Pain in the butt..

I bet it will look tiny on the roads out there. Anglias look tiny over here even with fiat 500's on the road

    Re: '66 Anglia - Canada

Yea I did like the white, it was originally all red but the owner from about 20 years ago painted it white.

Involved my wife with choosing the colour for this one, looked through so many before we settled on it. Hard to capture it properly on my phone. I think the video is the best representation so far.

Today I'm waiting for my package from Burton to get here. Has my Ashley exhaust in it. Need to modify to use with my header which is going to get wrapped.

Got the clutch hose sorted out. Goodridge pre made stainless hose with earls adapters.

Got the new diff to put in (3.9)

Going to run the fuel pump off a relay I'll put in the boot by the battery.

    Re: '66 Anglia - Canada

Ram Air Foam Filters on, had to trim to size, simple enough to do, nice and thick but seem to breathe quite easily.

Got the OBP 3/4 Clutch Master installed and Hooked up to my Mysterious Slave Cyl, Got a 26" Goodridge hose with 3/8 UNF and M10x1 Adapter fittings on both ends. All bled out and installed, Fabbed up a small bracket piece to connect push rod to the brake pedal.

Header has been repaired and wrapped. Was getting quite hot in the engine bay on the initial start, bubbled part of the paint where it was closest to the bulkhead, figured for a few extra dollars spruce up the pipe and bring down the heat.

My package from Burton showed up about 30 minutes after I left...

Tommorw will be the Ashley exhaust install, new cap and rotor, window seals for the rears and if time permits get the centre section back in along with the half shafts and move the car out of the garage under its own power for the first time.

    Re: '66 Anglia - Canada

Ashley exhaust is in, made adapter pipe..
Clutch still needs to be adjusted, not fully disengaging when clutch pedal pressed in..

3.9 Diff is in, all new fluids, topped up gearbox, driveshaft in.. still need to repair leaky rad.

Video of first test drive below. Runs well, sounds good. Put some seafoam in the tank to help out the old carbs, seems to run a lot better now.

Thinking electric fan for the car too.

    Re: '66 Anglia - Canada

    Car is still coming along..

Lost my 2nd Gear, had to pull gearbox, replaced with GT Unit and new throwout bearing,
Covered old hole, made new one, Panhard bracket too weak, beefed it up, installed catch can, welded filler bung in place of original filler cap, bung in valve cover for gases to escape..
Just small things.. Axle seal replaced, gasketed up nice and good to prevent leaks, sucked up the exhaust better to the body so it's not so low, removed header wrap from exhaust manifold.. Added the shims back into steering box,
Ran the car on jackstands, shifts through the gears nice, found a good condition magic wand shifter, its painted black now, nice and comfortable position..

Also installed Powerspark electronic diz because my Bosch was acting funky, almost like it was sticking on advance and causing it to bog down. Put in the new one set to 12 deg revs perfectly fine and fires right up. Rejetted the carbs, smaller chokes, smaller idle jets, new accelerator pumps etc..

    More to come!

Helper springs installed with perch on the coilovers, gets rid of any slack when the suspension droops..

Shifter installed again, took the car for a drive down the street. It rips now.
