I fitted the battery to my rarely used transit Mk1 camper this weekend in an attempt to get it working. The alternator produced a lot of smoke (snow fell into the engine bay when opening the bonnet) and is not charging the battery. The engine still started. The engine is a 'thirsty' 2.8 V6 cologne (I think) it has a carb with electric auto choke, which has a connection from the alternator so I don't know if this can be bypassed.....
An alternator near Sheffield would be good, otherwise can pay-pal money / send cheque for posting etc.
Thanks
