    Current 'agreed' insurance values

Having reached the end of my mk1 restoration, I need to get the car insured for road use and get a proper valuation in case the worst ever happens.

With the value of old Fords going crazy it's quite difficult to try and come to a sensible valuation that I can use when negotiating an insurance policy. I know that I've spent nigh on £30K on parts, but that doesn't mean the car is worth more or less than that.

Anyone who has put one of these on the road recently after a similar restoration - how did you come to a sensible valuation that you used to get the car insured?

It was a while ago, but last time i did an agreed value the insurers came back and said the value was more than the would automatically agree to, so did i want a lower value (it was only about £500-1000 cant remember exactly) or if i sent pictures they would re evaluate, i sent pics and they agreed to my value

similar to mine, anything over £25k had to appraised by a specialist, but was your choice who appraised it.
