To quote, Rally Design are official European importers of Blackline Tools the makers of the Blackline LSD. It says very little about the type of LSD and as to the quality it could be anything knowing what RD sell. I would hazard a guess it's made in the Far East.

You need to do a bit more Home Work before committing. What's the difference in price to a 3J Driveline one?

The Blackline "LSD" isn't really a true LSD at all - it is an Automatic Torque Biasing (ATB) unit.

As mentioned already above if you want a proper, high quality LSD go for ZF, Gripper or 3J.

Also beware of statements like "minimal maintenance" in ATB's as most I see are worn out in areas that are so expensive to repair - the casings and 12 helical gears - that it makes sense to buy a unit that uses clutch plates as they are usually far cheaper to service.

Thats interesting to hear. I am looking at LSD options at the moment as well, although for a sierra diff. I knew the quaife was an ATB, but didnt realise they had longevity issues.

I can't speak for other peoples' experience but in my own experience I see more worn out than are OK.
Mind you, I don't know many people that have actually taken one apart and looked inside!
