Was just reading something else on here about REC valves and that the ones from Burton dont fit - I have REC valves! I have sent the an email to see if I can get the bits from them.

    Hi Graham,
Do you mean, REC Pinto single groove valves can only be used with REC cotters and REC retainers and any other cotters and Pinto OE retainers will not work with REC single groove valves ?

I spoke to REC via email today, got to speak to them again tomorrow as I didn’t get chance to call him and place my order. One thing I had to confirm was the size of the groove. Will confirm with them tomorrow if you must use their retainers with the cotters.

Forgot to update this. Yes you need to use REC own retainers with their collets as the angles are different. 14 degrees on standard and 10degree on the REC ones. They also suggest using their own springs as they cannot guarantee that their retainer will fit other springs, they’ve sent me a set of drawings for their retainers so going to check they will fit my springs before ordering.

    Hi,
By the way, is this for REC Pinto single groove valves ?
I believe their multi groove Pinto valves can use normal Ford Pinto cotters and retainers. Can someone confirm this please ?

This is particularly for REC296 and REC297 which use rk8 cotters and either 10424 or 1451 retainers. Valve springs that match are rec004
