so if anyone can help i have a few questions.
1.are these the same as the talbot sunbeam ( read that somwhere) and if so does that mean that i can use the sunbeam quick rack in it?
    2. can you get a sold/heavy duty mount for the otherside (not the steering shaft end.?
    3. am i right in thinking i can get new tie rod ends for these.

    cheers all
    much appreciated

cant help much, but a sunbeam was built on a shortened avenger floor pan so there is much interchangeability

There are two makes of Avenger rack, Burman and a n other whose name I've forgot. The two use different parts though bolt on the same way I think. What are you fitting this to? Milton uses a much modified Avenger rack in their conversions for Anglia's.

yeah i have looked into all sorts of set ups and the easiest with stuffing with the Ackermann geometry is to leave the cortina setup as it is (upgraded )
and just remove the old steering box and arms from behind the crossmember and replace with a steering rack and make mounts...

Not quite as simple as that, as you will need to modify the TCA mounting points to suit, but I'm sure you know that already.

why is that..? because they arent in the same point as the steering rack knuckle point?... i was just going to run spacers on the end for the tier rods.

    Re: hillman avenger steering rack

I used a rear mounted pug rack on my Corsair conversion. I had to push the tca mount points out about 3 inches per side to get that geometry anywhere near right. Pug rack is narrower than a Aveneger one My pic is of mock up stage.
If you look at Milton Race page and look at the Anglia subframe picture, you can see on there also how much they move TCA mount holes out with Avenger rack. I personally dont think spacers on tie rod will work. Prob ok for fine tuning, but the pivot points for TCA and rack knuckles must be in the same plane.

wow 3" each side is huge...
the tca pivot to avanger steer rack knuckle is a wee bit closer...the steering knuckle is only just over 20mm further out.each side.
i asked around over here about what some of the kiwi racers had used and the best option was the avenger rack..and they had little to no bump steer.

they other thing is we cant just go changing the tca mounting point over here as it all has to be certed and thats a bitch.( and im a welder and its still hard).hell we cant even run adjustable tca arms lol.
not even allowed a cage or race harness (making things safer) with out a cert. so the easiest way is the way with least modifactions to the factory setup.

make the mounts and bolting a steering rack behind the crossmember is the easiest conversion in my eyes. everything else stays the same.and a escort steering column
