    water cooled turbo

    hi guys,just on with my yb powered mk1 escort the cooling system i am using does not have a header tank(also coolant return for the turbo) i know there is 2 outlets on the thermostat and one of them is for the coolant feed to the turbo,where could i connect the other line which would have originally gone to the header??thanks in advance guys

    I have the water line coming from the side of the block (drain plug) to the lower side of the core. The core should be on a slight angle to promote thermo-syphoning. The higher side plumbs to the thermostat housing. I highly recommend a silicone top hose from thermostat housing to radiator. I initially used an OEM rubber hose which bloated up from the hot turbo water

    OE turbos that use thrust type bearings are best to not water cool on a Mk1/2 - Under engine bay temps are greatly reduced by not running water.

    Aftermarket turbos that use ball bearings require water cooling.
