    Mk1 Mexico finally 'done'.....

    Hi everyone,
you may have seen my pics on the restoration part of the site, showing my recent paint job and body repairs.

So as the car is just about done i today decided to put some effort into taking some half decent pics and posting them up.

As you can see i still need to get some more paint on the lower part of the inner wings and will get that done soon, but to be honest i am just enjoying driving her about at the minute, that is what its all about after all eh??

Well here goes, hope you like

Hi mate, Yes this is that car! How did you find out about it, do you live local to me?? I saw a blue mk1 on minilights knocking about last year, is that yourself???

We lived near Brampton at the time and since i bought it we moved to a village close to wombwell. Pete is a thoroughly decent chap and sold it to me as i assured him it wouldn't be sold on for a quick profit.

It was painted citrine yellow when i got it with fibreglass rear wheel arches and 8" alleycats. The gearbox needed a rebuild and the clutch was shot. It had no carpet and had an indoor pool on the passenger side!!

But i couldnt care less as i had had to sell my mk2 a year earlier due to a back op and 6 months off work and was deperate to get another old ford.

    Cheers, Gaz

    Thanks matey.

It is Le mans green but it seems to photograph really wierdly.

Some shots look dead bluey and some look over-exposed, maybe its my camera...

These ones i took looked bluey so i had to give it a bit more saturation on the comp to get it more like it looks in the metal so it may look a bit too yellow in pics!

No m8 its a 1600 and Revs like fook. It loves a good thrashin and it never complains.

I put a new starter and alternator on it and a electric fan so it starts 1st time and runs spot on.

Ive not had it tuned as yet so not sure of power output. I got it as a runner from a g3 rally car, with carbs, sump, exhaust manifold and Dunnell ecu, then fitted retro ford water rail, engine mounts on a WCXM and alternator kit....

...If it blows up i'll put a 2.0 in and swap everything over

Stunning wee car. My first car was also a mark 1 in a similar shade of lime green (panama green i believe). Sold it to finance a trip to the UK about 12 years ago. Wish I had kept it. Seeing this makes me really want another.

Yes mate it is a polo rad. have a look here for details :
    http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=133277

I havnt got any pics of it going in but its really easy as its a perfect size to fit in. I only had to drill 2 holes in the front panel to line up with the holes in the rad and then bolted it in with wing screws.

I then used different pieces of hose to connect it all up with an alloy connector from Car Builder Solutions (excellent for little odds n sods) for the Clio expansion tank which fits in the front corner just lovely!

If you would like any close up pics let me know and i'll send you some.

I'd really like to see and hear more about about this clio header tank

Mines a mk2 but cant see that being a problem as those areas of the car are very similar!

Sweet looking ride by the way
