    Broken dipstick

    Hi guys,

Another issue on my mk2, dipstick has broke, what do I do to get other bit out? I was about to check the length as guy said it was too long and could catch crank, he was meant to send me correct one but incognito now!

205 block, rs2000 sump im sure. Does the dipstick tube just unscrew?

    Cheers
    Allan

The dipstick tubes are a tight push in fit into the block. If you get a good pair of moles grips around it you can normally twist it back and forth until it comes out. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the grips or it will crush the tube.

If you can get something to fit inside the tube, it will limit the amount you crush the tube and enable a better grip for removal.

What has actually broken? Dip stick or the tube? If its the end of the stick then its potentially in the sump - it can stay there as 'unlikely' to move or be picked up, otherwise its sump off to retrieve.

Sorry for late reply, yes it's the dipstick itself, only about 100mm left at ring handle. Wondered if a strong thin magnet would pull it out but need something small enough for the tube, not easy... So if I wiggle off the tube I should be able to retrieve the rest of the dipstick? assuming it isn't broken again further down. Hassle taking off sump.

See Burtons sell tube and dipstick together.
