Mk2 4 door 1600 - 2.0l pinto conversion (not just another lazy poster)

Hey guys I know this gives yous the shits , but I've searched through all the previous threads with the help of the search bar and I can't seem to find any info regarding the specifics of converting a 1600 cross flow to a 2.0l whilst using the same 4 speed manual gearbox is it possible what can and can't o use the same what needs to be modified I only seem to find a lot going to the 5 speed which comes along with all its own problems and modifications , I've been told the pinto into the 4 speed manual was a relatively clean fit , any info on this specific build would be greatly appreciated cheers guys!

Fitting a 2000 pinto is relatively straight forward given that ford did it and all the parts are now remanufactured etc. The gearbox you need will be the type E 4 speed or type 9 5 speed both are similar which is why most go for the extra gear. Your existing x-flow gearbox will probably last 5 minutes.

your only other issue is alternator and carb are on opposite sides of the engine bay so you need to mod accordingly. Most people use the RS2000 sump as it was made to do this exact job and RS2000 engine mounts. You can get away with a cast bellhousing but the RS2000 alloy ones makes it easier.

Am I right in thinking the radiator needs to be moved forward an inch or so as well.
