Corsa is what most are using. Google mk2 mania.
They do a kit
I think Madragon would be better off making his own power steering kit judging by his high standard of work on the Pinto injection system he has made. The problem with the PS kits that you buy off the shelf is the steering wheel still comes out through the floor at an angle, the same as the std column.
I was thinking of making one with an extra UJ in so the steering wheel would be straight when viewed from the drivers seat, more like a modern car instead of on the piss like uncle Henry designed it. To do that the pedals might have to be re positioned.
I modified a mk2 mania version to straighten my steering wheel by scalloping a bit out of the clutch pedal and moving the hole through the floor/bulkhead
Hey Mate, Ive got a how to on how I did it
PM me your email address and I'll send it to you

I have heard the Squires brothers (Race Rally and Competition equipment) make the best quality kit using the Corsa motor, but im not sure where the quality come from??? But would be interested in other opinions.

If you can weld, then there is no reason whatsoever you can't make your own at a fraction of the cost. Did mine for £85
The fitting of the steering and the design are not a big issue...as you suggest i will make it...but what im concerned about is the controll system...i read that they have a torque biasing controll that gets its signalls from the ecu...which gets its signals from a speed sensor...or abs system...the problem is i dont have any of these....i see you can buy a speed control box on flee bay..that trick the system into working..but have heard that at high speed its unstable...but this is all theory as ive never done one....cheers mark
I have raced with mine using the cheap ebay controller (basically a potentiometer) with no issues at all
Worse case it stops working and the steering becomes unassisted which is not a lot more than standard anyway
There are more expensive controllers that can be set up in 3 stages of assist based on wheel speed. I.e. the faster the less assist -

PM for details sent also.
Thanks!
You can do this quite simply if you use the entire Corsa B column, including the bottom UJ.
I got rid of the entire mk1 column on mine and had to fabricate a bracket to hold the column to the dash and pedal box, but by doing so and using both the top and bottom UJ on the corsa lower column I was able to angle the wheel to be a bit more normal.
I didn't move the column bush in the firewall, but cut the lower shaft down so that it only comes through 4 or 5 inches, it then both clamps and bolts on to the Corsa UJ, exactly as it does in the Corsa itself.
Of course I also got the benefit of using a Corsa ignition barrel and switchgear. Purists may not consider that a plus point.
I suspect that if you use the full Corsa C column you could probably even retain the tilt part if you were willing to replace the Escort upper, like I did with the B column.
