Do you mean the 2000E 3 rail gearbox with cast tail housing and the spring on the nearside rear. From my distant memory reverse was right and back next to 4th gear. The gear stick was positioned at the rear of the tail housing. First gear had a ratio of 2.97. This gearbox was fitted to the Corsair with that name and the Lotus Cortina.

There was also a single rail 2000E gearbox with alloy tail housing fitted to certain Mk1 Escorts and Capri's. Both had identical ratios.

That's the one Wildo. I used that type of gearbox in a MK1 Escort Twin Cam Road Rally car in the early 80's.

We use to get reconditioned ones from a Gearbox Company on Deansgate, delivered to Derbyshire for under £50. In the end I think they ran out of replacement boxes because the teeth would often strip off the input shaft.
