    Best paint

I need to try and paint the lower dash switch panel on my Mexico, i painted one previosuly using Rustoleum "Direct to vinyl". It came out really well but just seemed a tiny bit to shiny.

Just wondered what paint and primer people have used or could recommend as i dont want to mess it up as its for an undamaged piece but just the wrong colour

if you want to dull it down a bit gently rub it over with some fine wire wall, that should just dull the surface

I used ordinary cellulose aerosol. Works fine on rigid plastic and sticks well - no chipping as long as you key the surface with a scotchbrite pad.

Ive always had good results with simoniz aerosol paints, but in resent years ive been using halfords own brand aerosol paints and ive had very good results also. Key the plastic with some fine wet and dry sandpaper, then use plastic primer, then your top coat.

For escort dashboards, and anything else black i need to paint, i use Satin Matt Black. Its shine is in the middle of matt and gloss black, not too flat, not too shiny.

I took the original piece of plastic to Leonard Brooks in Harlow (Essex). The mixed up an aerosol of the exact colour and added the correct amount of satin. I also got a plastic primer from them. The did a chocolate brown for my centre console and a light beige for the C pillar trims.
