There it is. All plumbed and wired (except the remote oil filter)
The trumpets needed massive grinding on the flande to fit the Jenveys. And I made the take of for the machanical oil pressure gauge.
Tinkered with the air filter but it just will not fit. Need to think of something else. Shorter Pico style injectors would allow the use of flat back plate and that could give some more options. But as for now I get to admire the go fast look of the trumpets
Noe that it's all there there suddenly isn't so much room around the engine.
Excellent work, well done
I bet you can't wait to fire it up!

its certainly looking good
Thanks guys.
I really cant' wait to fire it up! We chencked the ecu yesterday and seem to get ell the necessary readings from the engine.
The coolant temperature gauge rocketted straight to top end of the gauge when power was turned on so thres some issues to sort out with it. But that will not stop the fire up.
Graham do I need to connect the valve cover breather to the oil tank or can I just use a breather filter for the valve cover and plug the inlet in the tank?
Still no hoses.Still no smoke from the engine. I rang the GLs freight company and ther parcel will not be here until tomorrow. It should have been here but the danish f*uckers had a day off last friday . Thus the parcel was stuck in Denmark.
So now I need to rebook me a new time on the rolllers. I hate this stuff, even if you work your ass off there's always something that ruins all the efforts. I hate motorsports....
aw thats a crying shame! I'm also p1ssed off , was hoping to have some shiney hardware for my Engine Friday , so I'd have the long weekend to put it together and drop it into the car , letting me fit and plumb the radiator...but no Courier! Looks like I'm not gonna make the next round of my championship...
How about you and the next race?
I can make it in time for sure. Unless the engine blows up on the rollers that is. I was planning on two roller sessions and a practice run before the first race. But Now I'll get it mapped and try to arrange another session to adjust the timing if needed. As for practice runs I'll go to the track a day early and do my runs there.
This is not at all the first time I'm about to run out of time in the start of season. It's more of a rule rather than exception.
The hoses and hose ends arrived today. So I plumbed the remote filter head and... now I'm done. During the proces I kinda hoped we would have RHD steering in Finland too
but after some tight squeese all I need now is to pour in the oil and water and start cranking the engine.
wow! so its actually just about ready to run? Can't wait..
hope to get mine going before the month is out. Tonight I'm puzzling over Conrod bolt torques.... 42 nm seems just very little..
Did you ask obout this in the ZSOC forum? Which bolts are you using?
yup , cheers for the reply there too .
wet sump mate
very nice ........
what do you mean , Scott?
No fire yet. Except some occational back flames.
We have oil pressure, spark and fuel so everything is basicly in order we only need to get the ignition timing set up.
Also I can choose wasted spark ignition during starts to make the engine start better.
pardon my ignorance , but how does it make starting easier? And what triggers it , is it the oil light?
Go on, you can all congratulate me now....
Nice one
Well done!
In case anyone is interested I have one of these engines spare which is for sale.

Thanks
Thanks guys it feels pretty good now that its runing. It is very loud though. I think I'll be strugling to get past the scruteneers. We have a 110db limit @ 4500rpm.
Congratulations
We need video though

have you any silencers?
I have one huge Martelius Exhaust silencer in the back. It has done the job nicely with the Pinto but now that the exhaust is 3" from the manifold to the muffler it seems quite loud.
Maybe it is just the long silence that has reingned in the garage.
well done
Big step done
The cutting out / running issues are now sorted. The microphone in my pocket camera does no justice to the sounds.

Thanks Exboyracer! Seemed mighty fine. No leaks and smoke came from all the right places. And now that I've listended it for a while it does not sound all that loud. I'll try my luck with the scruteneers.
Still need to sort out the cam cover breather hose . Its a little bit in the way of the throttle linkage at the WOT position. And propably re-route the throttle cable, it seems quite reluctant to let the butterflys close. I guess the turns in the cable are too tight. Too bad I liked it there. Other than that I'm all ready for the rollers.
A little update on this project. It has been a bit of a struggle after the last post.
We went to the rollers like we were scheduled. Had little failure in the wiring. We needed to temporarily re wire the fan and the fuel pumps to take their power directly from the battery to relieve the old wiring.
After we got the wiring done everything went fine untill the car released a huge cloud of smoke. The prop started acting up. Evidently the poropeller shaft was too short. Did not see this one coming. I've used this prop with identcal gear box in the identical position.Well almost, the box was raised about two centimeters. That seemed to be ebough. The prop was not far far enough in the gear box. The propeller shaft must have been vibrating badly alltough the roller operator mentioned nothing of that sort. Any how the the rear gasket from the box blew out and the yoke seized to the bushing in the tail of the gear box.
The good news was that the engine is running nicely and the mapping was almost done. So we re scheduled for last monday. A week before the first race.
We worked trought the weekend to get the car on the rollers again and sorted the wiring and the propeller issues.
We fired up the engine to see wheter the smoking issue was sorted. The new central electic rail/box did not warm up.
For a brief moment it seemed fine untill I noticed a worrying wining noice from the front cam belt cover. The Tensioner pulley had gone. The bearing was worn out and it had a lot of slack in it. This was a new pulley and the engine had not run more than one to two hours max! The belt tends to move away from the pulley. It was allready scrubbing against the flanges in the cranck pulley.
Evidently my lining was off or the water pump face is not solid enough for the added stress of the wilder cams and much stiffer valve springs.
Anyway I had to cancel the roller session and retire from the first race and get back to the drawing board.
I need to re think the tensioner set up. I need to loose the new style water pump and go with the older bits.

This is how I felt for a long time with my car...........it's just development mate.......you are stretching everything to be the best......it will take time and there will be small setbacks like these.....but once it's right you will be glad you did it, I am certain!
Mine took a while and we had to try a few different things but the result was worth it.........actually every time I rally it, the sound becomes addictive and I want to do another event the day after............only problem I have is that the nice revvy Shawspeed engine is 15cm behind my head so I am always a bit deaf for a day or so after................or maybe I am just getting too old!
Stick with it............that's an order!
Yeh I guess it is. And after all I'm GLAD I noticed the dodgy tensioner in time. So as far as the internals stay where their supposed to im not complaining.
Just a few teething problems like Jon said. And I feel confident I'm on the right track this time with the tensioner.
I'm planning an DIY airbox and a filter too.
Have no fear I simply can not give up anymore.
Glad to hear it! That tailpipe is massive!
