    Ls-Lt vs Lv engine

    Hi all.

Im about to start a duratec into mk1 escort conversion and my local wrecker has two focus duratecs, a 2006 (ls-lt) model and 2010 (lv) model.

Im leaning toward the LV and from my research they look like the same engine but the LV has vct.

Are there any other differences that you guru's know about? Or any reason to go with one over the other? It will run ITBs and be mated to a NC mx5 box. Tried and tested. Nothing new here.

    Thanks.

I'm no expert but from the forum it looks like you want the later one as it has the higher flow head, think there is some threads on this topic. Iv gone with the later head on mine

Thanks for the reply. I have read about the later model heads flowing better. But my main concern was that i read the 2010 has direct injection. Looking at my MPS, if the engine was N/S the high pressure fuel pump would be at the back of the engine which would be no good for the engine position in the escort.

the high flowing head isnt much better, they flow really well in the first place, much better than most engines by a long way, unless your shooting for ultimate power your be fine with an early head

When the engines were put into MX5s the later ones had steel cranks and better valve springs, whether Ford followed the same route or not I don't know, but it's something to consider.
If you can control the VVT then it's well worth having.
