Kent 1600 rebuild
I have just collected my first Kent powered escort and want some advice on how to build a solid reliable engine that performs well but is still driveable in traffic. I have built plenty of pinto's but not sure of kent piston cc, compression ratio valve size, porting etc. Will a 2 barrel GT manifold and carb be sufficient for good drivable torque and power or twin webbers. The block is a 711m and i assume it has a flat head with no combustion chamber but it is still complete.
I am fitting a V6 capri 5 speed so 2000-6000 would be a good range i feel.

What sort of bhp are you looking for ?
And do you intend to have it rebore as this will dictate path.

Yes full rebuild so will be bored oversize. I would be hoping for 110 to 120 hp. I think this should be achievable yet still be drivable and reliable.

twin webers will far outperform a twinchoke. a well put together x/flow with a modified head using gt size valves, bcf2 cam and 1300 pistons should get you in your target power figure and be nice and drivable, same combo but with bcf3 should easily do that, BUT bcf3 usually requires deeper valve cutouts in the pistons. to get that sort of power with a twinchoke your need to go to a wilder cam, which wont be anything like as drivable

Why 1300 pistons, is that to increase the CR and what CR would i have. Is the main difference between the BCF2 and BCF3 valve lift. If i need to fly cut a few thou for clearance ill do that if it will make a significant difference with cam options.

1300 pistons will raise your compression by a whole ratio, so brings it upto about 10.3:1
bcf3 only has about 20 thou more lift but its enough so that its fairly common to get piston/valve contact, in fact it you have pistons high in the block and a head which has very proud valves even a bcf2 can come up short on clearance.
