Ford pinto (transit) 205 block with carburetor turbo conversion
Hello All,
I've got Ford transit Mk3 january/1986 with pinto engine 2.0 1993cm And Power 76 HP.
1.Block is 205 with standard carburetor
2.engine must be rebuild because on 3'rd Valve is more than 16 % lower compresion than 1,2,4 valves.
3 for my turbo conversion i 've got r5 turbo carburetor solex 32 dis and garret T4 turbo
4 . How many hp's is real from this block with R5 carburetor and garret T4 turbo? Is real 180 HP or more? ( 220 + will be super)
5. How modifications i must do, when i news this Power from this block?
Head:
Must be pulished or no?
Camshaft must be race or standard
Camshaft followers must be better or standard?
Block:
Pistons must be +0,5 or +1mm ? ( Block must be repair,because is problem on 3rd Valve. What kind of pistons i must use ? Standard + (0,5 or +1) with any modifications or i can use V6 pistons or any other?
Rods Can be standard or V6 or any other?
Oil pump standard or High pressure?
Water pump standard or?
Or how much mods i must do for this Power?

I believe slightly under 200 is the limit with that carb, standard engine is fine.

I recommend that you do a search on the forum for Pinto turbo - there are many threads covering what you are asking about. It's worth reading them since I doubt we remember to write it all again.
One thing I will say - I think a T4 turbo is way too big, and old fashioned for this kind of build. It spools unreasonably slow and the only upside I see is that it will probably build boost so slow that it will make the engine last longer. IMO a small turbo like a Mitsubishi TD04-15t or g is a much better option for 180-220 bhp.

Didn’t see what turbo was being used! A td04-13t from a Subaru Impreza will be cheap, soool quickly and have more than enough flow for your goals.

As above 200 ish and the carb starts to become a restriction, my dad has a Renault 5 got turbo,
Tuning the carb is easy enough, only tricky big is the 1st and 2nd stage for the boost, the jets are cast into the housing and have to be drilled out carefully,
