Firewall material?
Can you use carbonfibre for a firewall? I assume probably not but I was thinking is there a time reference to how it needs to perform, like fire doors in buildings need to withstand the fire for so many minutes.
Is the purpose of a firewall for fire restriction or just liquid ingress?

Re: Firewall material?
are you talking for motorsport? the msa dont specify, just say leak proof. unlike a door in a building, with motorsport you are just trying to contain flammable liquids for to protect the driver from being splashed with say fuel, or boiling coolant. they are not firewalls in the strictest sense of the word

Re: Firewall material?
That’s what I thought regarding fuel etc getting into the cab, motorsport wise, maybe hill sprint or one day single stage at a later date but I don’t have an RAC blue book (do they still call it that?) to find out.

Re: Firewall material?

you can find it online https://www.msauk.org/assets/bb2018completelow-res.pdf
