Big winged sump vs Dry Sump

I'm aware of he differences of each of these but has anyone used a winged sump on a Mk2 S2000 conversion without having to modify the crossmember ?

I haven't removed the sump off my engine yet but I'm guessing a new sump and pick up could be made to use one for a LOT less than a complete dry sump setup.

I have read that the F20 does suffer from oil pressure related issues on track so is this is a pump issue or simply the sump not being adequate for hard cornering ?

I'll be using the JEMS Xmember if that makes much difference to the clearance issues

Hi i did try and find a way of using a wet sump. but found that due to the position of the engine i wanted, the oil pump was bang in the way of the steering rack and XM..
As i wanted the engine far back and low as possible i had to dry sump it..
    cheers

    Hi Jon,

It might be worth you contacting Jonnie Wigmore on here - he's got an S2000-powered Escort up-and-running without a dry-sump, and it seems to go very well without an problems. Somehow, it sits s low as my dry-sumped setup too!!!

    Cheers,

    Paul.

the dry sump pan does not realy allow the engine to sit any lower, maybe 10mm max. The problem with wet sump is getting the engine to sit back far enough. We cut a bit out of the sump allowing the engine to sit back as far as poss retaining the std oil pump. Seems to work very well

Thanks for the info guys, I still think I will be more comfortable with it being on a dry sump simply as its a circuit/sprint car.
