I thought there was a recession

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=250471386155

Doesn't seem like it to me.
I have been watching that thinking I might have a bid. I didn't bother

He has another one for the other side, what will that make?

Re: I thought there was a recession

There are still bargains to be had on ebay, there's no doubt about that, but you have to be keen to spot them. Or you have to be sensible and be able to see what you are looking at.

Last week I decided I wanted a steering wheel for my Capri. I like the one in my Escort, so decided to get one the same. It's the one with silver spokes and a leather rim. With the big vinyl pad in the middle.
On Ebay there were 3. One was listed as out of a 1300E, one was listed as "rare" Mk1 Capri and the other was Buy it now, £20 Escort steering wheel. So I thought I'm happy to pay £20 and bought the last one.
The one listed as out of a 1300E made £87. It is exactly the same as the one that I bought for £20.

I suppose it's the same as Mk1 rear lights off an RS2000 making 10 times more than those off a 1100L and 15 times more than those off a Mk1 Capri.
    They are all the same.

    All good fun though

New square lamp grills come up on ebay quite often, and don't usually make a great deal either.
Having said that, I have seen a new square one and the original one polished up was far better.

    Dave,

so you've never had the pleasure of dealing with the Lotus Cortina Spares Centre then??

i reckon they've probably got a coin-operated turnstile to let you in their place.

6 months ago looking for a new 2000E slave cylinder, rang them up and heard how unbelievably impossible these are to find now, how they've had them remanufactured at slightly higher cost to cover R&D. it's a forty year old part for chrissake- how much R&D do you have to do apart from finding someone to make it for you??

oh, and then i needed the circlip for the bellhousing as well.

    SEVEN QUID they wanted

gave that Neil at 105Speed a ring and he said he'd have an original `impossible to find' one out to me the next day and for less money. when i asked whether it came with the circlip he laughed and said "you haven't been talking to the likes of LCSC have you?".

if anyone's interested i've got a case full of shite old genuine original Escort Mk1 nuts, bolts & screws. every one of them came off a RS1600 (of course) and can't be found on any other model.

£50 each, no offers, liggers, jugglers, tinkers

in my own dream world i'll be a millionaire next year.

i'm just glad that there's a good few sensible boys around here that'll trade stuff or sell it for real world money and not Bay prices.

    Bernie

No, and I doubt I ever will at the prices he asks. I was looking the other day at the stuff he has on ebay, and in my opinion there wasn't anything that wasn't more than twice what I would call sensible.
If he can get it, good luck to him though.
