    Wheel arch liners

Hi guys! Not been on for a while as I've been busy with a potential business venture (if it all goes well!). What I'm doing is wheel arch liners for the Corsair. One pattern is ready for taking mould tools from and the other will be finished tomorrow! The next step will be to take 2 more inner half moulds to use for the Mk1 and Mk2 Cortinas and all I have to do is make specific outer tools for those... need to find a Mk1 and Mk2 Tina that is in mid resto (locally!) to shape them. I have thought a bit more about doing them for Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts (have access to both for tooling) if anyone is interested. Anglia 105E liners would also be a possibility. They will be fibreglass 2 piece units for all models and will protect the now expensive front end tinwork! I do have a few interested in the Corsair units, which hopefully will sell as I've ploughed a lot of dough into the project, out of work and skint!!! It's taken 2 weeks solid on them so far! Here's some pics of the Corsair ones. Let me know what your thoughts are. PS: sorry about the crap fone pics!

Cheers bud Hope to shift some of these to finance the developement of the Escort ones! Are the wings RS or standard? Need to do outer halves for both anyway.

With the cost of materials and developement they'll be coming in at £160 a set plus p&p. A cheap way of saving the front wings and valance from damage due to the state of the roads! I'll be making the inners to fit both Mk1 and Mk2, only the outers will differ.

Nice! Only probs I can see with them is that they don't extend to the arch lip or cover the chassis rails for full protection!

    Re: Wheel arch liners

Woohoo! 1st set of Corsair liners out of the moulds! They fitted perfectly in 10mins without the struts. Probably would take 1 hour with them in and drilling for the self tappers.

Can you make them out of a more flexible product? A bit like the mudflap material (plastic) that you can buy? If so, I reckon you'd have a HUGE market for the Mk2 Escort

    Re: Wheel arch liners

Cheers lads! Actually, they're really flexible anyway and have to be bent to get them into the arches, so I'm quite chuffed about that! I smacked about a test piece with a rather large sharp screwdriver to mimic stones and only marked the surface, so they seem strong enough so far!

Cheers guys! The 1st pair of Corsair ones are away and the guy is well chuffed with them (I've got something right at last!!!) Just got another order today through word of mouth! Would prefer them in plastic, but that would involve an extrusion process that would require hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of machinery... can't stretch to that!!!

Excellent venture mate, one of the biggest rust issues on the front of old fords is all the crud in the a-post areas, i discussed these a while back on SOSE forum, as soon as you have these made for a MK2 Escort i will buy a pair, have you expolered using other materials...plastic aposed to fibreglass so they dont crack? i made a very crude set out of aircraft grade alloy but they are nowhere near the standard of yours....well done, not usre why noone has made these before.

Sorry digging up such an old thread, but this project of making specific Mk2 Escort arch liners obviously unfortunately died.

Has anyone adapted any other arch liners off another car successfully?

Was eyeing up something like a Mk1 Ford Focus front liner and tailoring it to fit?

I have just reached the point in my project where I am able to try this after fitting the 15” front wheel bowls. I will sort a few different types out and see how well they fit and report back.
