it might be of use to know that big end bearings for these are no longer available, but you can use 1800 diesel bearings instead, the only difference being 1800's do not have tags in the shells, but seeing as they are only for location when the engine is assembled its of no importance

Re: Ford pinto 2.2 stroker rods - 1600 diesel rods

pistons are a bit of a problem! these rods have 24mm gudgen pins so pinto/yb pistons fit, but the combination of the rod being longer than pinto or yb and the stroke being longer means a pinto piston will stick well out the top of the block at tdc.

accralitte do a low compression height piston with a really thick crown which will work after you have machined moist of the crown off

LOL! hour and a half stutter on his 'post it' finger. Always seems a shame to buy nice new pistons and machine most of them off but I suppose bespoke is, as bespoke does!

Re: Ford pinto 2.2 stroker rods - 1600 diesel rods

I have just acquired a set of 1.6 Fiesta Diesel Rods, but the number on them is S89FF. Are these still good for a 2.2 Stroker? Was too slow on buying the ones above.
Got a 205 block that was originally running a turbo (low comp) that I've recently pulled out of my car, so looking at rebuilding it as a spare, but NA spec.
    Thanks in advance.

Whne do you ever not need to machine Pinto forged pistons? the Wossner always do too.

Edit of above post: The more I'm Googling, the more I think I've been given some 1800 diesel rods...

From your comment Graham, I got back to the lad I had them from and he gave me a set with the code S84FM on them, plus he says he's got new bearings too. Result...
Going to go see him next Friday to give him chance to dig the bearings out.
On comparison the S89FF rod visually looked about 2mm longer.
    Thanks again for confirming.
