Tapping a Duratec water outlet for an M10 sender

    Hi All

I want to tap the unused boss on the back of the Duratec head water outlet for an M10 sender adaptor, The pre-existing partial drilling is 9.2mm, is this too skinny to tap an M10 thread in and still get a good seal? The M10 bit is for a threaded adaptor to put a 1/8NPT vdo sender in, so I could go up to M12 I think as there is enough meat in the casting and get a new adaptor.

it is too big to tap an m10 thread in, but you could helicoil or insert it to get an m10 thread

Kind of what I thought. I have the drills / taps for m12, and the housing will take it, so I think I will get an M12 adaptor and see how it goes.
