    Fuel pipes

    Hi all,

Found this fuel hose a bit desintegrating ...

It has only 2.5 years old.
This one is not far from radiator, is heat from there can damage hoses ?
I still need to check other ones behind the engine.

no its not heat, seen that before, rubbish quality hose, not saying you bought cheap hose, the trouble is there's a lot of poor quality stuff out there and its hard to know whether its any good when you buy it

    Thanks Graham.

I think I might have a look to all other ones !
I hope fuel lines in kind of PTFE running into car that came from same supplier are better quality.

    Re: Fuel pipes

Fuel lines are of a particular spec.....I have seen oil, even water lines being used for fuel....
Check the specs on that hose and decode it online, to verify its correct application.
    Regards,
    Kevin

When I got my mk2 it had similar hoses that sprayed petrol on the exhaust manifold. lucky noticed it when running in the garage! I have braided stainless steel hose and AN fittings for the rebuild.

    Re: Fuel pipes

Braided hoses aren't any guarantee against leaking - the braid is there for protection against abrasion. Cheap braided hose has cheap rubber that dislikes the ethanol / petrol blends and rots inside to out - the braiding doesn't help spotting the warning signs. Please use reputable makes if using braided rubber ....... braided PTFE is safe for virtually ANY fuels commonly used in motorsport.

that's what I thought, if it was braided, I can't see the cracks.
    Is goodridge good enough ?

I would have thought so as long as it's genuine and not a copy.
